gabriella will be a flame bearer for the 2024 paris olympics

edited to add that according to this article about the current french tour that cholla posted in gsd, the duo will make their announcement about their competitive careers at the end of the tour

Do you think there is a chance they might be coming back?

The French article today says "Paris 2024 Olympic Games: skater Gabriella Papadakis will carry the Olympic flame to the Athens stadium
While the Olympic flame has just been lit, this Tuesday, in Olympia, the tricolor skater, of Greek origin, will be one of the seven French bearers on Greek territory."
Gabriella will run with the Olympic torch on April 26 in Athens: https://x.com/sportricolore/status/1780642470373527857

Unfortunately, from what I've read recently, especially coming from Gabriella, I do nt think so ... but hope to be proven wrong!
She's been answering fans' questions very thoughtfully in English and French in her Insta stories - check them out while you still can.

ETA 2 screenshots for those who don’t have an Instagram account:

Links to photos & clips of her Olympic torch bearer experience in Athens on April 26, 2024 are posted in this thread in the 2024 Olympics subforum: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/threads/olympic-flame-ceremony-torch-relay-2024.111748/

I’m so excited to bring you this conversation with Gabriella Papadakis. With her ice dance partner Guillaume Cizeron, Gabi is the 2022 Olympic champion, the 2018 Olympic Silver Medalist, and a five-time World Champion. She’s been taking a break from competition the last two seasons, skating in shows with Guillaume and exploring life away from the rink. Gabi has been vocal about support for opening up dance to teams of any gender, and in 2023, she and Madison Hubbell shared a video of them building a program together. We talked about partnering and improv, the process of coming out as queer, and the pressure put on women skaters to conform to rigid standards of femininity. This was such a delightful conversation and I really hope you enjoy it!

I wonder if this is smoke signal that P&C aren’t returning. I haven’t thought they would.

Today (Nov. 3, 2024) they made it official that they have ended their competitive career and are going their separate ways:

3 posts by Nick McCarvel: https://x.com/nickmccarvel/status/1863950085844820428
More of their statement: "We owe this career to our coaches, parents, federation, choreographers, physical & mental coaches, costume designers, agents, physiotherapists, doctors, supporters, journalists without whom we would never have reached the highest level of our art" (2/3)
"It is with immense gratitude that we decide to turn the page. A huge thank you to our public for the pleasure shared with us on the ice." (3/3)

Should we create new and separate fan threads for Gabriella and Guillaume to follow their individual news & projects?

They were truly special! They brought me back to Ice Dance and I feel the loss. There will be other champions but I'm not sure anyone will compare in terms of artistry. Time will tell.
I do hope they recover their friendship in time: they are currently experiencing life and who they are in a way they didn't have time to explore before.
Scott is right: they created magic together.

Gabriella has shared her thoughts on retirement in both French & English (and many skaters paid tribute to her in the comments):

Holy moly, was that so eloquently written. It almost makes me want to know more… But I respect privacy. So glad we got to see them in all those competitions.

Wish Cizeron a very deserved flop rest of the life if he can't even be bothered to wish her well on this.
