High time we had a new thread now that all is right in the world of ice dance.

?? I think you may have accidentally posted this in the wrong thread?Popsicle fans are strange
Nah I'm a popsicle fan?? I think you may have accidentally posted this in the wrong thread?
If there's a joke in this it's too late at night for me to get it.Nah I'm a popsicle fan
Wasn't one of their names popsizz (pap/ciz -> popsizz)? Well, anyway, I just thought the thread title was strange, and I think popsicle sounds cuter than "popsizz".If there's a joke in this it's too late at night for me to get it.
Not that I ever came across! Your pun doesn't work with my vowels though, no wonder I missed getting it...Wasn't one of their names popsizz (pap/ciz -> popsizz)?
For a few minutes, the article was not restricted to subscribers. Weird... ? But hey, I jumped at the chanceAnyways, I've been seeing photos from an interview Gabriella did with L'Equipe up and down Twitter. And very nice photos they are too, but unfortunately, because I'm not a subscriber, I can't even access the interview in French, let alone English. If anyone's read it maybe you could give us a quick summary?![]()
Thank you, that's such an interesting interview! I hope Gabi has a great time 'floating' for a year and trying tons of new things. For a few minutes, the article was not restricted to subscribers. Weird... ? But hey, I jumped at the chance
Here it is in French, I give way to Google which is much better than me in English (and less lazy)
Enjoy !
Well I am currently rewatching this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4yj354dDzY&ab_channel=sabinfire Frankly I loved that year. There were some great programs among which my fav from Bobrova and Soloviev and the butterfly from the Brits. Good times. I miss Agosto's commentaries too.yeah! It's pretty bland without them!![]()
I’d be very surprised to see them come back. I agree that they could easily sit at the top but to your point I’m not sure that will drive them to put in the work needed. I’m also not really sure what the state of their relationship is right now. It sounds like things may have gotten rocky around Gabis pregnancy and subsequent abortion. I could be totally misreading this as well.I’m not sure they will come back.
Who knows, but it would be a cakewalk for them.
Not sure that would inspire them.
It would have to be about growth as a team. However if their French teammates continue to improve and climb the ranks in all disciplines, it’s not out of the realm to vie for a team medal at the Olympics. Probably a bronze, but still.
Yes, you are misreading this (I don't know if you could watch the very touching documentary where she mentioned the abortion) ... her struggles had nothing to do with Guillaume and everything to do with finding herself stuck in a difficult situation. Gabi had to take a painful decision at a difficult time and didn't have time to really "digest" this emotional ordeal.I’d be very surprised to see them come back. And the difficult situation, let's be just as clear as Gabi was in the documentary, had nothing whatsoever to do with the abortion and everything to do with her experience of depression and how it was exacerbated by the culture of figure skating and elite athletics in general.her struggles had nothing to do with Guillaume and everything to do with finding herself stuck in a difficult situation.
Gabi tends to depression like so many of us. I would say that her abortion probably triggered another wave of depression and exacerbated the feeling of being unable to take care of herself and give herself time to heal. And the difficult situation, let's be just as clear as Gabi was in the documentary, had nothing whatsoever to do with the abortion and everything to do with her experience of depression and how it was exacerbated by the culture of figure skating and elite athletics in general.
