Pj Kwong's latest figure skating-related interview is with Murray Anderson (unsung hero music man): http://www.openkwongdore.com/2015/02/23/episode-114-murray-anderson/
Murray and Pj first met over 20 years ago at a skating event where Pj was announcing and Murray was one of the men playing the music at rink side. Along the way they have had the opportunity to work together at local, international, World and Olympic figure skating events. Whether paid or not, Murray’s expertise is in demand as a person who is well-known for solving music and sound problems from the boards. He got his start as a kid playing music in the local skating club, has made his mark in all kinds of other live shows like Butchart Gardens and has been to 2 Olympic Games.
Her most recent figure skater interviews were:

Episode 112 - Shawn Sawyer (Feb. 9, 2015): http://www.openkwongdore.com/2015/02/09/episode-112-shawn-sawyer/

Episode 109 - Eric Radford (Jan. 19, 2015): http://www.openkwongdore.com/2015/01/19/episode-109-eric-radford/

Re-posting from the Canada Stars on Ice 2015 thread:
PJ Kwong has a new interview up with Kurt & Geoffrey Tyler about this year's Stars on Ice that is fascinating. They talked about the process of putting the 25th Anniversary show together and all kinds of interesting stuff from the history of the tour, as well as some tidbits about what some of this year's programs will be like. For example Duhamel & Radford are planning a tribute to great Cdn pairs teams of the past by learning some of their signature moves & incorporating them in a program.

Another recent figure skating-related interview:

Episode 116: Sally Rehorick. Language expert [and World/Olympic judge]

Wow, how figure skating minds think alike! I was just listening to OpenKwongDore's podcast with Eric Radford last night, as well as the one with our very own Ryan Stevens (@N_Halifax)! Yay, Ryan, it was great getting to know more about you in your interview with P.J.! Thanks for your Skateguard blog, and continued success with it as it grows and finds more fans. :D

I just posted a link to Eric's interview with P.J. in the Eric Radford thread in GSD. Then lo and behold, I found this thread was already bumped up. I had missed this thread when it initially appeared early in March.

Thanks, aftershocks for your kind words! :) Glad you enjoyed listening. Was a lot of fun to do that one even if I was sick at the time! :)

^^ Yes, you and P.J. really seem to have hit it off together, Ryan. You both sound like positive and inquisitive people who tend to act on your ideas with wonderful consequences. :)

Sorry to hear you were sick at the time. The interview was great!

I know this thread is for figure-skating related Open Kwong Dore podcasts, but there are so many others that are fascinating. They're all worth listening to.

PJ Kwong interviewed Sandra and Val Bezic's father, whose remarkable story of being a refugee and eventually immigrating to Canada, where he was instrumental in causes concerning the Croatian-Canadian community and the country of Croatia as it was formed, was being published in a limited edition English version at the time of the interview. His nephew reformulated the original, rough English translation from Croatian.

Bumping this back up to recommend Pj Kwong's informative interview with music editor Hugo Chouinard - I found it to be a fascinating listen!

I listened to this earlier today. Very interesting, as most of Kwong's interviews are. I didn't realize just how grueling the media side could be for the athletes.

Paul [Dore] came to my house; seemingly for dinner and to record a couple of intros for the podcast. We started chatting and before we knew it, instead of recording an intro for an upcoming episode, we started talking about working behind-the-scenes at a large event like Worlds. Paul and I had a great conversation about experiences and moments that we each have had at national and international skating events.
