So Russia gave France Lopareva for ice dance and Molchanova for pairs, and Kuzmenko for ladies (all of them juniors). I wonder if France will give out one senior, Novoselov. It is not as if he was bringing them medals.

So after today Im kinda excited to see all 3 French ladies go up against each other at GP France.

But dont get crazy - Bradie winning.

I watched Kevin Aymoz' SP: I loved it! It has loads of controlled energy, great expressiveness and is totally in tune with the music. Now, if he could land his jumps ... we'd have a new star!:gallopin1

Haven't followed that closely but congratulations to Miete for her bronze. She one of those ones that has plugged away for a really long time. To see her medal is wonderful. Like Voronov winning a gold last year or Ge getting bronze in France. And don't forget she's an adult doing this. As all the girls will tell you - harder when you're older.

Schedule for Masters
https://ffsg.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/SCHEDULE-MASTER-1.pdf

FFSG replied to an inquiry on their Facebook that there will be a stream.

Doesn't it seem redundant for James/Cipres, Meite, and Amyoz to spend the time and money to go to Masters after competing in front of international panels, winning medals, and collecting World points? Does only Didier understand the logic of having test skates in the middle of Senior B season?

I was very much impressed by the level of artistry and fluidity of the men today at VdL. If only they were more consistent with their jumps!

Congratulations to Laurine Lecavelier for winning the Senior Ladies competition at the Masters de Patinage with a 127.89 free skate and overall 195.65 (and a very nice half-and-half asymmetrical grey-and-black dress). Congrats too to Mae-Berenice Meite for her very solid 120.63 and overall 182.48 to finish in second!

Aymoz is unforgettable! Let DG try and fail ...
The French Fed is paying for the coaches in Florida. That's the scary part. DG can pull the plug any time he wants. If he wants Aymoz to go with a different coach, things will get nasty.
There was a video of Adam landing 4Lz in practice too. He is quite the jumping bean.

If Kévin can be more successful with his jumps, he will be a force to be reckoned with. He was brilliant in Canada. The French Fed would jeopardize their best hope at medaling if they chose to cut him off.

Perhaps the mid program dress change was distracting enough for me to pay attention to her other qualities, but I never realized until this Skate America that Laurine is so stiff.

I wouldn't describe her as stiff in terms of how she moves, but it's true she doesn't have the kind of deep back flexibility some other skaters have (maybe as a result of her past injuries?). But I don't mind, as I tend to find that quite stomach-churning to watch. Laurine's clean lines are more to my taste - more dancer than gymnast.

And that was a nice start to her international season. Fifth in the free and overall, some lovely jumps (her lutz looks amazing now) and a very respectable score, plus an audience that was well on her side. She should be killing it by Nationals! Congrats Laurine! :cheer2:

I didn't find her stiff at all, in either program or in the exhibition.

But I did feel wuzrobbed in the EX: I thought the loose white shirt she was wearing was surely part of a costume change, but, alas, non.

Not the greatest competition for Romain Ponsart but perhaps slightly better than at the French Masters. He achieved 10th place.

At the moment he seems to be more comfortable with the short program than the free. I believe he said in an interview Cizeron suggested that FS music to challenge him but it might be too challenging for him. The programs don't have much of transitions but his programs have never had much of them. So, it might be too late in his career to have proper transitions. On the positive side, his movement at the SP was much more polished than before.
