Prime just dropped the first three episodes of Wheel of Time. Didn’t know Prime did the episode a week drop thing. Thought is was just Apple and Disney+. Now I am not sure what to do, wait until the whole season drops or watch one episode at a time. LOL
Prime did the same thing with the second season of The Boys; released the first 3 episodes then a new one each week. Especially annoying since they had previously dropped the entire first season all at once. :drama: I guess that is their thing now.

Did anyone else watch Wheel of Time tonight? My husband was excited to watch it because he read the books.

There was a lot of blood. And I was bored. Hoping it picks up in the second episode?

Ugh. My husband really wants me to watch it with him. I really don't like most fantasy, and your post is confirming my thoughts about it :shuffle:

I enjoyed the first three episodes of Wheel of Time. Disappointed to learn that there are eight this season.

The guy who plays Lan was cast perfectly, and looks exactly as I imagined him (and looks quite wonderful, I'll add).

So far I’m disappointed in the new season of Dickinson compared to the prior seasons. It’s just not holding my attention as much.

Found a new series on Netflix, "Cowboy Bebop". I never really knew the anime version, so it's all new to me, and I'm enjoying it very much. John Cho is wonderful, and I also enjoy his co-stars, Danielle Pineda and Mustafa Shakir. Considering that it's about a trio of interstellar bounty hunters, I was surprised that it doesn't seem to be overly violent, though it is not without gore for those that are bothered by that sort of thing. Four stars (out of five), would recommend.

I love the anime series so much that I can’t help but not want to watch the live action version. A middle-aged with weird hair John Cho is far from the Spike I imagined. But your good review may make me rethink that.

Thanks for reminding me to add Cowboy Bebop to my list. I've been watching the Rurouni Kenshin live actions and forgot about that one.

Like I said, I've never watched the anime version so I came into it without expectations in that regard. I've been enjoying it a lot. I'm on the last episode and I only started watching this morning. It's kind of unusual for me to binge a show in one sitting like that.

Middle aged John Cho? I'm in! I've always found him to be so incredibly handsome.
The whole show is very OTT like a live-action anime. I'm now watching the cowboys fight a mostly naked man in a Teddy Bear head. It's great!

Tick Tick Boom was very well done. Andrew Garfield was really exceptional, maybe my favourite performance of the decade so far? Such energy and verve and humanity.

Also, I am not sure if there’s anything that captured the early 90s as well as this.

Just want to bitch about Paramount+ withdrawing the agreement with Netflix for them to show Star Trek: Discovery outside of the USA. Not only was I in the middle of re-watching it when the previous seasons were pulled, but it means we won't see season 4 until next year, and then only if we decide we want to pay for yet another streaming service. They better keep their free trial.

I tried to read the books years ago and got bogged down somewhere around number 5. You need a spreadsheet to keep track of all the characters and what's going on with whom, especially after the 4 get separated. But, Nynaeve is totally :kickass: I always wanted to be her. Here's a wiki page to show how complicated the books are https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Wheel_of_Time_characters Fortunately, the TV series will cut this list waaaaayyy down. But, I may have to dust off my copies and reread.

I read the whole series and didn't have trouble following all the characters. However, the ending was very unsatisfactory, and I wouldn't really recommend the series to anyone.

I loved Nynaeve also.

Well, since Sanderson wrote the ending, who really knows what Jordan really intended, albeit, Sanderson supposedly wrote from his extensive notes. The timeline for the books was so long, that his original ending idea evolved multiple times. It's actually very interesting to compare the cross-influences between Jordan, Toliken and Frank Herbert's Dune series. It used to be lively debates between fans of each on who did it better, but you could drop characters from any of the series into one of the others.

The thing I got annoyed with in the series is that you could read an 800 page book and feel that no one's situation really changed or resolved. I always felt Jordan was more interested in the concept of having x number of books than actually having enough story to fill x number of 800 page books. I never finished the series. I might or might not depending on what audible charges because I just don't have time to sit and read anymore.

I anticipate multiple skating programs to the sound track next season. Some of the music would be perfect for skating.

This was my husband’s complaint about the later books in the series. He felt like Jordan was just filling pages by that point. I think he still liked the earlier books though.

We made it through episode 3, and I am slightly more interested than at the beginning, but only marginally. The characters/acting just don’t stand out enough for me. I feel like the cast is very B-list or C-list. It’s probably not helping that I’ve been very tired at night lately and don’t have the energy to remember who comes from what group, etc.

I started reading Eye of the World when it first came out in 1990, and made it through the third book and even that I seem to remember being rather meandering and far too much. I had my babies in the early 90’s and with the limited reading time it took way too long anymore to get through big books, so I switched from 10-15 year commitments to stand alones I could get through in a week or two. Even now, a trilogy is generally more than enough for me.

There was a lot of content released this weekend but I ended up binging Hellbound. It‘s like a supernatural detective show but reminds me more if the Leftovers than Constantine. The demons are a macguffin and the series deals more with internet mob mentality, religious fanaticism and divine justice.

"Succession" has to have the most loathsome characters on tv these days. I detest all of them and I cannot stop watching this show. Great writing and great acting...

I tried watching it. But I hated everyone. Not a single redeeming quality in the bunch.

So I stopped. I don't miss it. They're awful people and we have enough of those in the real world.

I think I'm enjoying their misery. I must be a sadist when it comes to these types.

Ditto. I only made it through one episode a year or two ago.

This. I slogged through to the end of S1 to find out what happened, but couldn't get past how much I disliked all the characters so did not continue to watch.

I just finished Finch on Apple TV+. It was okay but not great, although the dog was cute and Tom Hanks was good as always. Pretty dark.

I only watched for Brian Cox and Hiam Abbass. Loved both, but not enough for sustained, dedicated viewing.

LOVED the first two episodes of Hawkeye! It is soooo good! It will be hard to wait for the rest but wait I will.
