I’m watching the Flight Attendant. Kaley Cuoco is a revelation. I was very skeptical about her ability as a dramatic actress, and while her hot mess of a character is not exactly a 180 of Penny on Big Bang Theory, it’s a very nuanced performance and makes you relate to a character who is the most narcissistic trainwreck since Carrie Bradshaw.

I am watching it too and am enjoying it immensely. I don't have HBO so I am watching on a network, so just watched the first three episodes. I never watched Big Bang Theory but recalled enjoying Kaley on that John Ritter show. The Flight Attendant is just fun!

It surprised me too! She is truly a train wreck in the best way possible! Can’t stop watching!

Is anyone watching Tiny Little Things on Netflix? I'm expecting it to be bad, but I have to check out anything about ballet. I also just found out that I know one of the dancers, so it's going on my list.

I started it last night and found the acting so bad (which is usually expected for dance shows) that I couldn’t finish the first episode. I just didn’t have the patience.

Again watching a new series not on the aforementioned channels. Nurses is so inaccurate in terms of task assignment, role etc. that it is pitiful. But the latest episode included a lost patient which is most probably more frequent than expected. Two particularly interesting ones I knew about was the following:

- Patient I had his skull jacked in with a crowbar during a fight. The crack neurosurgical staff saved him and the nursing staff had to teach him everything again. He used to "walk" around in a wheeled Geri-chair and periodically disappear, always coming back to the ward. Staff became worried when he held up a urinal and asked for "more beer". They followed him and found out that elevator staff would let him get on and off elevators. Then the nurses found out that he was crossing the streets under the FDR drive to a construction site where workers used to give him beer if he carried bricks to and from for them.
-Another was in a ward and was being treated with chest tubes. In those days, there were no wall mounted oxygen or suction sources, so he was hooked up to a portable suction machine and periodically disconnected. One day he went missing and they finally found him in his 4th floor walkup connected to his suction machine, happily watching his telenovelas. Since he had watched the nurses disconnect and reconnect his tubes so many times, he faultlessly followed the protocol. He picked up his suction machine and went down to First Avenue and hailed a cab.

Thanks for being honest! I doubt I'll last much longer than that but I have to check it out.

Has anyone watched The Lobster?

In a dystopian near future, single people, according to the laws of The City, are taken to The Hotel, where they are obliged to find a romantic partner in forty-five days or are transformed into beasts and sent off into The Woods.

It sounds weird and quirky but is that a good weird or a bad weird?

I think good weird but not necessarily touching and weird. I thought Jojo Rabbit was very touching and very strange in parts. I thought The Lobster was good and entertaining and weird but I wasn't as moved by it.

So I watched the Stand. SPOILER (book spoiler included too).
The time jumps are confusing and a lot of moments lose its impact. Like Campion going awol in the beginning is shown as a flashback or the sudden flash forward with Stu and Frannie together while Harold is having a meltdown about them being together.

It also would have worked better to slowly reveal Harold’s darker side rather than show it in the first episode. By showing right away he’s a sociopath, it diminishes the tragedy of his decision to make and set off the bomb .

Watched The Dressmaker on the weekend - not the movie I expected - very captivating and some good plot twists and of course the amazing dresses were gorgeous - hope it is remembered at Oscar time. Kate did look a bit older than Liam but overall it didn't bother me - and her skin looked amazing - my hairdresser would say her skin was like butter!

Started The Queen's Gambit - it is pretty good but I don't find it bingeworthy - I guess from all the hype I was expecting more.

Watched Ava as well - my husband kept saying Jessica Chastain looks exactly like Julia Roberts lol. Okay but not my favorite of the weekend.

My goal is to try and shorten my Netflix list before the new year - I keep adding and adding and never watching!
The Queen’s Gambit takes a bit ... I have NO idea about anything to do with chess but I really, really liked it.

OMG! That Ending

The F*** Boy did it was not the ending I was expecting.

Currently watching the six part documentary about the School of American Ballet on Disney Plus. It's fantastic.

I tried watching Tiny Pretty Things on Netflix last night and only lasted about 20 minutes, up to the first sex scene. I might go back and FF through to see if there is some dancing, but this is really bad.

After that I switched to this Disney+ documentary, On Pointe, and it's really good! Thanks for the recommendation! It was like a cleansing.

First Position is a good documentary about ballet as well, came out probably 10-15 years ago (this is a total guesstimate).

Yes! This was a great series. On Pointe reminds me of this in that they follow specific dancers in several age groups. Also, I was a Kay Mazzo fan when she was dancing and I like that she's involved in this.

I actually liked seeing that dancers at NYCB are also teachers at SAB. I think it gives nice continuity.

Second season of Pennyworth just started on Epix. This series is a bit darker than I expected, but I do enjoy it.

Does anyone know if there is a date for Season 3 of Shtisel on Netflix?
All I've seen is some time in 2021. I'm anxiously waiting. It has to be weird picking up the story after so much time has passed, but I'm looking forward to it.

I am way behind but I am digging the One Day at a Time reboot. Will Netflix have rights to the fourth and unfortunately final season?
I watched the pilot a while back - really fun! I need to go back and watch the rest.

Just finished S2 of The Crown and I'm so sad to lose this cast. My mom says Olivia Coleman is great in it, but Claire Foy was just magic.

COBRA KAI in January! :cheer2:

The rest of the 3rd & 4th season's cast is also great particularly Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret, Josh O'Connor as Prince Charles, and Erin Doherty as Princes Anne, who steals every scene she's in.
