I told myself I was going to wait until there were a few episodes of Loki up before I started watching it. Of course I instantly caved and dived right in. I realized I miss the sensation of waiting for the next episode because I haven't felt it in a while. Binging a show has become the norm. I am really excited for episode 2 next Wednesday.

I am certainly enjoying HBO-Max: “Mare of Easttown” and “In The Heights” were wonderful. I went looking for something else and saw that Rotten Tomatoes gave “Starstruck” 100%. And I meant to take my time with it and then binged. The writer and star, Rose Matafeo, was worth the binge. I hope there is another season planned.

S2 of Lupin is as improbable as ever (right down to his immaculate Nikes), and I’m here for it. It’s the same formula as S1 with perhaps a tighter narrative, but still gives a lot to think about, in between the entertaining and implausible shenanigans.

Omar Sy is also all kinds :hat1::respec:

Looking forward to starting this in a couple of days!

I just watched The Brass Teapot on Amazon Prime. It's a generic lecture about the evil of money and how far people will go to get it. It's not the worst or best thing I've ever watched but it's fine if you are bored and want to watch people hurt themselves and others to exaggerate a point.

I'm watching the mega creepy Icelandic show Katla, which is like The Returned with an extra twist. My only complaint is that sometimes the cinematography is so dark that it's hard even to see what is going on (which seems to be a trend in tv lately), but other than that it's a nice scary watch. Maybe I'm crazy but does Icelandic ever sound like Castilian Spanish to anyone else? It's primarily with one of the sets of actors the divorcing couple. I'm on episode five and it could be jumping the shark but time will tell. There's eight total.

I wasn't familiar with Castilian Spanish but I just watched this video:
And I can understand why you might find similarities. The pronunciation for the various letters she describes in the video are sounds you will hear throughout Icelandic. Especially the "th" sound and hard the "g" sounds so I would guess you are picking up on those. When she speaks in sentences at the end I find it very different and more like she has a lisp but in isolation those individual sounds are very similar. I think those particular actors, especially him, slurs or whispers his lines more probably adding to the impression.

As for the show I found it a mixed bag myself and was a bit bothered by the dark. I get why it was like that but I'm over having to work to see things. Though it is no where near as bad as that battle in GOT so not to worry for others who want to watch ;)

Some preliminary news as to a possible Netflix adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. If true, I especially look forward to Lily James as Elizabeth and Helena Bonham Carter(role not mentioned).

BTW, Catriona Balfe who plays Clare in Outlander is involved although it is not clear what her role is. She is an executive producer on Outlander, so maybe she has a larger role from that perspective.

I'm watching Fatherhood on Netflix. I really wish there were more movies like this around that emphasize the negative messages sent to single fathers just because they aren't women. There is a constant theme of him doubting his parenting abilities because other people kept telling him he couldn't do it by himself. Parents have enough worry about making the right decisions without receiving that much negative input. There is a lot of discussion about the negative effects of gender roles and women but not enough about how men are actively discouraged from taking on the roles that society associates with women. They aren't the only ones that can be caregivers and shouldn't be the only ones. We can't complain about absent fathers without taking a long hard look at how much we tell them they aren't worthy or capable.

Just watched a 9 part series called "Lennox Hill". I imagine our New York friends would recognize the name. It mainly centres around the Neurology and OB/GYN departments but ends with the COVID pandemic. I really hope there's a special place in Heaven for these people. The doctors and nurses are superheroes. Very touching.

Is it a documentary or a drama?

There’s a new documentary on Netflix called Sisters on Track, about three young African-American sisters who are track prodigies in NYC raised by a single mother making ends meet and a coach who runs a track program that focuses on training young women not to become Olympians but to obtain track scholarships. So that means doing well on the track and in scholastics. Even if your times are good, but if you are doing poorly in the classroom, you ain’t running. Fantastic and inspirational! Also, I still don’t understand the idea of New York kids applying for high school.

There’s a new documentary on Apple TV+ called Fathom, which is a study on whales. The trailer looked interesting.

Bit late to the party but finished watching Wandavision last night. Had to binge the last four episodes because it had me hooked.

I think it was a slow burn to start with but it all totally made sense in the end. They did a great job of the production and the story kept you guessing. And I think Elizabeth Olsen was fantastic as Wanda.
