A very sweet and well spoken video. It makes it pretty clear that she's done competing. Which makes me a little sad, but not too much. She accomplished her skating goals (lots of gold stars for that!) and has a whole new life to live. I can't wait to see her in SOI a month from tonight.

I mean she didn't say it but you are probably right. I think we might get a better clue how her jumps look during stars on ice.

She's in that "what do I do now" mode that hits all skaters when they retire. :( It has to happen. I'm happy that she is going out on a high note, got a little bit famous for her accomplishments and personality, and used that to get what looks like a cool internship. That TV station is lucky to have her. She has a great attitude about her work there and I bet she makes viewers smile if she gets to go on the air!

As for her jump(s), I will see them (it) in Providence next month and will let you know. I'm not expecting much since skaters not named Nathan usually play it very safe on SOI.

Mirai is a guest judge on RuPaul's drag next week!!!! She looked just gorgeous in the preview.
I’m so glad that Mirai got to fulfill both her DWTS and RuPaul’s Drag Race ambitions :40beers:

She seems to be living her best life with her internship and speaking engagements (looks like she is going going to be a panelist for this event hosted by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses, https://tournamentofroses.com/events/thisgen/, with Katelyn Ohashi and some others). At this point, I do think that she’s probably done with skating if only because of her situation with her hip injury/surgery, but you never know, and I will also be interested to see what kinds of jumps that she does at SOI.

(She had a media credential for 2016 St. Paul Nationals.)

Fan cams from the Long Island SOI show on 4/20/19:

"Youth" by Daughter [choreo. Adam Blake]: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMEB3GaY9Z4

"Halo" by Madilyn Bailey (starting with the musical transition following the "Trusty and True" group number that opes the second half): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vAbv29o9Fg&t=5m11s

Mirai posted a side-by-side comparison of her in figure skating and her in other sports.

I would look like the video on the right no matter what the sport.
This must have been when she was in Aspen back in March for this club show: https://www.aspentimes.com/news/oly...main-star-for-aspen-skating-club-spring-show/

This event is happening on Saturday, May 11 (she performs at SOI Anaheim in the evening):
She seems to be living her best life with her internship and speaking engagements (looks like she is going going to be a panelist for this event hosted by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses, https://tournamentofroses.com/events/thisgen/, with Katelyn Ohashi and some others).
Article published today: https://olympics.nbcsports.com/2019/05/08/ashley-wagner-mirai-nagasu-will-skip-fall-grand-prix/
Excerpt:
“Loop, flip and Lutz were my best jumps and right now, Sal and toe are my best jumps,” Nagasu said. “I very much dislike that. I’m a creature of habit. I’m just trying to get back into my habitat.

“It was really difficult to go from going to the Olympics, not going and then going again. I think I wanna come back for myself. I want my elements back. Maybe I’ll pull a Daisuke Takahashi. Who knows?”

RETIREMENT is such a big word. I may be old for figure skating, but I’m only 26, which is still young in real world terms. It just seems like the wrong word for someone who’s in their mid-twenties. 🙈

And hip surgery is really hard to come back from. So I don’t know how skaters KNOW that they’re done competing. I’m still at the rink errday. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've noticed her jumping on IG (along with her hip rehab), I'm intrigued and cautiously hopeful that she might comeback...

Mirai was invited to Japan Open as a member of North America.
She was invited to Carnival on Ice (gala), too.

Woohoo! 🎉 :cheer:

It's belated to say so but I really loved her ex number for this year 'Halo'. How beautiful Mirai is in Halo! I really loved Demons when I saw it in the past. I love Halo as much as Demons. It's so moving to me to see her journey from Demons(/On Golden Pond) to Halo. :wuzrobbed:cheer2:

Aw, that’s so nice to see :) Also, I can probably watch Mirai compete without having a heart attack for once. I saw Mirai on ice in person for the first time this year on SOI, she looked like she was having SO much fun in the 90s number. I went with a non-skating fan and during the closing number, she said “WOWWWW” at one of Mirai’s spins.

Yahoo, despite all its weaknesses, has been good to figure skating ... It gets a lot of their page space and time.

Mirai will be at the Aurora Games in August, along with Ashley Wagner and Alysa Liu.

Are Ashley and Mirai even speaking? I'd be offended enough when Wagner selected over Mirai back in 2014 for Sochi! Ashley insinuated and was hoping for the same thing to happen last year when she skated poorly and was far behind Mirai at Nat'ls! Neither would have won singles in the Olympics, but Mirai completed her 3-A during the team competition and helped them to a bronze medal! I doubt Ashley would have contributed in the least! Like in tennis, she has no real weapon to lay down so if the performance isn't clean, she gets the scores she deserves when others are doing so much more! :judge:

I think that Mirai and Ashley have a great deal of respect for each other as skating peers, and have always appeared friendly to me. Jonathan Van Ness asked something to the effect of whether it was awkward between them when Mirai was on his podcast, and Mirai sounded very genuine in saying that there wasn't, and that they are very similar people and have a lot in common, and I think that they've both spoken about how they've grown up together. In fact, Ashley posted a picture of herself and Mirai laughing together on her Instagram the other day.

An Olympic Figure Skater's Entire Routine, from Waking Up to Showtime | Allure
Mirai Nagasu, an Olympic medalist and Stars on Ice figure skater, shares her entire routine as well as her favorite skincare products. From arriving to the rink for stretching and physical therapy just before a show, and putting on her makeup with a "pump-up movie" playing in the background, to using mandatory shower sheets just before her end-of-show meet and greets, Mirai shows us how busy and fulfilling her days can be.
Additional footage provided by On Ice Perspectives (18 minute video uploaded today on Allure's YT channel): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXEOkjr48S4

ETA that Alysa Liu shows up here so this was filmed during one of last 4 Stars on Ice West coast stops back in mid-May.

Article that goes with the video: https://www.allure.com/story/figure-skater-mirai-nagasu-beauty-routine-video

Has Mirai "officially"retired or, is the fact that she is planned to participate in Japan Open a sign that she is keeping her doors open for another season? Selfishly, I would absolutely love to see her and Ashley compete in another Nationals, not necessary to "win"but just to see them skate on their own terms. They have been a part of the skating community for such a long time and even though it is exciting with the new up and coming skaters, I will forever cherish what they brought to the sport :wuzrobbed

After what we saw last season, neither are in the running for the crown! That little girl who won was fantastic! :sasha1:

This is a really cute "day in the life" and makeup tutorial that she did for Allure.

Without makeup she looks really young -- and sometimes we forget we have watched her for 10+ years.

I don't know what the "birds and the bees" have to do with granny panties but the story is hilarious.

Whoops, this was the same link that Sylvia posted above -- apologies! Bradie also appears (in addition to Alysa -- I believe you can see her father in a few shots) and they seem to have a nice camaraderie.
