3a with smooth landing edge, 3z-3t, 3f, could be an issue with watching the stream but looked like he didn’t match the spin position changes to the music on the combo spin, good glide, good program

Very solid skate from Minkyu. It'll be interesting to see what the tech panel does with the elements they're reviewing - Ted says two spins, the step sequence & one of his jumping passes. I'd have him below Jacob on PCS, but he might eke into the lead overall.

I don't know, while Jacob is really expressive, his skating is just a little too jerky for my taste.

I do NOT agree with that score at all - and definitely not the PCS being higher than Jacob. His program was a lot emptier than Jacob's between elements & not nearly as dynamic.

Hagara

3z-3t, 3a with a lot of preceding footwork, 3f, not quite smooth on the toe pick pop feature on spin, good sit spin with change of edge. Good skate—maybe not the same presence as some of the other skaters, but well skated

Nakata

Intense right from the start; big 3a, 3f, 3t-3t interesting that he’s doing an easier combo than everyone else in final flight, okay basics, but not as smooth as Seo. What will judges do?

Great skate for Rio! This will be close to Minkyu, I think - or it should be. May not be enough to beat him, since the TES was lower when the TES tracker dropped off the screen.

And, Rio brought it too. What a great skate. Very polished. Lots of talent in this final group. Going to make for an exciting FS.

Well, what do you know? I actually totally agree with those standings ... all the way down to 6th place. Usually, I can find something to nitpick about but not today. Have to go back and find Habin Choi's skate now.

See you all later for the RD.
rewind to about half way and Ean Weiler starts a new group (after an ice make), Choi is right after him.

Thanks. I found him. He was REALLY good. And, just 15 years old. Wow. Now, I can say that I totally agree with the top SEVEN placements. A well-judged event, imo. 41 skaters ..... how do the judges keep it all straight?? Kudos to them.

Well, now I have to go get some things done during the break before RD. One of those "things" is to do a "sanitary trim" on BOTH of my long-haired cats. UGH. I've been very neglectful regarding that particular grooming task. I remember the breeder telling me 10 years ago when I got them as kittens that "If you don't do that, you'll be sorry!" Well ... last night, I was sorry. No further details necessary.

See you later ... looking forward to the RD.

Not a complete bust - he made the FS. He has the tech content, if he goes clean, to make a huge jump up the standings in the FS.

I am watching now, how much longer Karen until dance is up? Sorry, I’m trying to juggle many things this morning and hope to join you for some of it.

I'm happy that both of the 61.31 tied skaters, Matilla and Krouglov made the cut, that the last group for the Free consists of skaters with points in the 80's plus Choi, who held his lead through 17 skaters, that the penultimate group all scored in the 70's, that there wasn't a group break in the middle the 68.X skaters, and that Johansson joins them in Group 2, because I like his skating.

The second half of Minkyu's program was so good... Ted's weird grudge against him was all the more conspicuous when contrasted with his effusive praise for Nakata. Hope my pookie can skate clean tomorrow and hold.

Hagara remains very bland to me.

Paradis was lovely.

Lee Jaekeun has grown so much since I last watched him skate. It's kind of impressive his jumps are NOT a total mess after a growth spurt like that.

First time I've ever enjoyed a Nakamura program, so good job to him. KWeaves's choreo was pretty clever in how it got around his atrocious camel spin.

Watched the first half of the men yesterday... went to watch the rest today and the video has already been geoblocked. Grrrrr.
What!?! I’ve been on a ski trip much of this week and was planning to watch this weekend 😡
