Mariah Bell cheer thread: Rise Up

Mariah has come so far under Raf. The old Mariah would never have been able to stay focused in the middle of all that. I didn't think it would be possible. I'm so impressed. Talk about a silver lining. Especially rising above Eunsoo :40beers: (who also skated wonderfully and with amazing focus apart from the one mistake).

I'm amazed at how she did under the circumstances.

So happy for and proud of Mariah! She has had a really rough few days and was still able to fight for everything in that program. This has been her most successful season to date and I hope she can keep building on it next year. And I hope all the nonsense she has had to endure can be resolved quickly.

Where to begin... first and foremost, Mariah Bell is not only sitting at #14 on the World Standings, but scored back-to-back-to-back personal bests in the Short, Free, and overall total score. Under Raf's tutelage and through her own determination and grit, Bell has matured and bloomed beautifully this season. Additionally, Bell managed to pull together TWO clean performances, her first of the season, under major stress and nerves. What social media and the media in general have done to her character and reputation are toxic and mentally insane. However, Bell enabled her skating to do the talking for her and gave the Free of her life, not letting go AT ALL. Bravo, Bell and may next season bring you even more success.

P.S. - Can we start talking about Grand Prix medals if she adds a 3Lz-3T in the Free alongside the 3-Salchow next season? :p

I think her current layout along with a 2 axel half loop 3 salchow sequence would do the trick. She has a 2nd axel right after her footwork that would be a good spot. I somewhat hope she keeps this seasons long program for next season and focuses on upgrading her technical over the summer.

She can't do both the 2axel3toe and 2axel-3sal AND repeat lutz and flip.

If she wants to repeat lutz and flip, the only way to do so without a 3/3 would be:

2axel3toe
3lutz2toe
3lutz
3flip-2axel
3flip
3loop
3sal

So here's the thing. Bell and Lim practice together daily, right? That means that they essentially have each other's programs memorized. Each knows exactly where (on the ice) the other is at any given moment, at least as long as their music is playing. Bell was doing her run-through during that practice session at the Worlds. That gives her the right-of-way. So how was it that Lim was in that spot at that moment? She had plenty of advanced notice that Bell was coming. You can see that from the video. On top of that, Lim had to know which way Bell was headed, better than anyone else on the ice. Lim knows Bell's program by heart, as would anyone else who regularly skates on her sessions.

Mariah will be competing in her first World Team Trophy this month (April 10-14) in Fukuoka, Japan - a fun way to end her competitive season! :)

I'm so glad Mariah is getting this opportunity. She deserves it after all she's been through.

“Radar” and “Work B**** [Bitch]” are the 2 Britney Spears songs listed in Mariah's Team USA profile for her SP: https://usfigureskatingfanzone.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=74
Adam's video mentioned her SP music was remixed by DJ ShyBoy.

Earlier this month Mariah visited Shae-Lynn Bourne in South Carolina for her new FS choreography (music not yet revealed): https://www.instagram.com/p/Bz3UEBNByyQ/

Mariah reunited with Romain and Nathan in Japan for THE ICE (photos in Osaka from Nathan's IG): https://www.instagram.com/p/B0TMyrHH1VL/
They're in Niigata this week and will end the tour in Nagoya August 3-4.

It is great to see Mariah seems completely over that silly overblown controversy at worlds. I am happy for her. She seems like a really good person. Her and Romain are the cutest couple ever.

New Golden Skate interview by @Eislauffan with Mariah after she won the gold at Nebelhorn (she lists Adam Rippon as part of her coaching team this season and explains his role during this interview, among other things):

Copying over links that were posted in the U.S. Ladies thread last month (a complete video of her SP will have to wait until she competes at her GP in France):

Thanks for copying this interview link over - I missed it previously. Interesting about the changes to her training since starting to work with Adam. She did so well at Nebelhorn and now IDF - hopefully she is onto something that will help her to the next level! :cheer:

Congrats to Mariah on winning BRONZE (2nd in FS!) in a tough field in Grenoble! :cheer: 142.64 FS and 212.89 total are both ISU personal bests. She was credited with landing 6 triples cleanly; her final 3Lz was called <. She received all level 4s on her spins and footwork.

Yesterday USFS tweeted Mariah's 3rd place SP video (ISU SB of 70.25) to a Britney Spears mix (first time we've seen this program in its entirety):

ETA:

NBC is blocking videos in the U.S.; their GP France broadcast is scheduled for tomorrow. Sunday 11/3, from 4–6 pm Eastern time (check your local listings; some us in the States will "fall back" one hour overnight).

I’ll have to say that I never expected the 2019 GP France performances from Mariah! WOW!!! Even “old ladies” in figure skating can improve. Top 5 at World? It will be tough but one never knows. For now, let’s celebrate a stellar SENIOR performance by a US lady.

P.s., Another GP event in which USA medals in each discipline...like 2019 SkAm.

Congratulations to Mariah on winning her 2nd consecutive GP bronze medal today in Moscow! :cheer:

It currently looks like she will be the 2nd GP Final alternate, depending on what happens next week in Sapporo.
Awesome! I've just watched the SP and with a fall she was in 3rd. So I was hopeful. Can't wait to see her LP.

From the U.S. Ladies thread in GSD:
Very nice interview with Mariah Bell after her bronze medal at Rostelecom Cup (in Russian).
You can try a machine translation or read Tinami's summary, posted here: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...ieving-2020-vision.106360/page-5#post-5689440
