Maria SOTSKOVA - poetry on ice

I love the back of the dress. The front....I'll have to see a better picture. Not crazy about the red.

My hope is that Maria's time with Aruntunian improved her basic skating. She has such fantastic sense of rythm but her basic skating really needs more work to be competitive in seniors.

Wow, that's a great program and she did a wonderful job interpreting the blues! I'm so impressed!! Easily the most stylish of all the Russian ladies.

Yes, I love the program too. Nice to show her versatility. The dress, the music, it all just works. Also pleasantly surprised with the technical improvements in her skating. When I read the article saying she grew to 170 cm I was worried because her jumps in the past were quite small, but now they actually look pretty high! I think the training in the US did her some good, she looks stronger physically which is making her overall skating more impressive IMO. Hope she keeps it up for the FS!

It's wonderful to see Maria go clean for the SP and LP with such nice distance and height in her jumps, which have more beauty and grandeur than last year helped by her increased height, and she combines it with such elegant movements and fine musicality. Congratulation to her!

I love her and think her performance is special, pull the sexy program at 15. However, if she doesn't improve her skating skills, I think she will not break through. Her speed is slower than most of top junior and it seems to affect her jump as well.

Interview with Maria Sotskova (from Simonenko)

- she also tried rhythmic gymnastics in early childhood
- she has realized that she really loves figure skating only after spending a month in America (with Arutyunyan). Now she understands that she loves competing and is not afraid of it anymore.
- she tries to attempt some dance classes (expect choreography on her rink), she loves jazz and jazz-modern
- it was hard to try to show Juliette on ice for her, especially in the second part of her FS
Also some interesting thoughts on training process in America

Really like this interview: very thoughtful and honest
She says that they sometimes train 3Lo-3Lo and 3-3-3 in the end of practice sessions, she tried 3A on the floor& she wants to try it on ice after this season
