Let's Talk Movies #36 - 2020 - Yep it is a new decade

I think they'll be back whether it be sooner or later. It all depends on how well we contain this virus and how quickly we do it. Either way, once this is contained to the point where it's safe to be in enclosed places with crowds, I see people being super thirsty to go out and do things again. Property owners may be evicting people now but they're going to realize they ain't going to be getting many other businesses to replace the businesses they're evicting so theater owners who don't own their own lots may be in a new negotiating position if they want to rent certain available lots.
 
I saw "My Spy" shortly after the theatres re-opened here in Canada. (Six weeks ago? Eight weeks?) It played at the discount theatre close to me. I was the only person in the theatre. :D It was quite decent, good escape fun.

Then I saw Unhinged for an afternoon showing about a month ago. Mainly to get some free air conditioning. There was one other couple in the theatre. So three out of 300 (or more) seats filled. (Fairly crappy movie by the way, standard psycho stalking a woman and child. Script completely out of touch with the world changing to be more understanding of people dealing with mental health issues.)

Then Tenet. Went with two friends, same theatre as Unhinged and again just one other couple in the theatre. Afternoon showing, five out of 300ish seats filled. My friend loves these types of movies, he really enjoyed this one a lot. I thought it was awful. I played games on my phone for the last half of the movie. Was so glad for it to finish.
 
We have Showtime free for the weekend. I enjoyed a documentary about the Go Go’s, some episodes of “The Circus” (and what a circus it is this year with the crud and Trump.) I also watched 21 Bridges starring Chadwick B. Fine acting, ok film.

“I wish to let you know that I have been asked to resign by Warner Bros. from my role as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts and I have respected and agreed to that request,” he wrote Friday on Instagram.
Depp’s exit from the “Harry Potter” spinoff series comes days after he lost his libel case against the tabloid “The Sun” over a 2018 article alleging he was a “wife beater.” Depp said he plans to appeal the ruling.
Warner Bros. confirmed Depp’s departure and announced his role will be recast before the third installment debuts. The studio also pushed back the release date for the upcoming entry, which was originally set for November 2021. It will now open in summer of 2022.

I saw the Tom and Jerry trailer yesterday. I don't know if anyone will go watch with me but I will have to see it at some point. Nostalgia and all.
 
Actor Dan Stevens is rumoured to be in the running to be the new Magneto in the MCU. Never heard of him before. LOL
 
Dan Stevens or Magneto? He is probably best known for Downton Abbey, but he was the Beast in Beauty & The Beast, absolutely sexy in The Guest, and absolutely hilarious in Eurovision.
 
I saw 'The Last Vermeer' in the theater. I really enjoyed it (and being back in a pretty empty theater).
I did not know about this true story - very intriguing post WWII story. Guy Pearce was great - played a very flamboyant and entertaining artist. Claes Bang was very good ( he was in the last season of The Affair) - reminds me of an old movie star - very nice looking man.
As much as WWII was such a horrible time - the many stories before, during and after the war are so intriguing and cover so much history, geography and life. The stories post WWII interest me very much as people try to establish life and dealing with the ramifications of what may have done during the war.
