Bollywood star Irrfan Khan has died of a neuroendocrine tumour. He was 53 and best knew in the West for his role in Jurassic World.

He also acted in The life of Pi, The namesake, and Slumdog millionaire. I don’t remember his role in Jurassic world (May be I didn’t see that movie :) ).

An interesting interview with Thandie Newton, which tells about her experience as a black actor in Hollywood, her thoughts on the characters she's played, and lots of other stuff:

I've always been a fan of her work (although I haven't seen everything she's done).

Quoting my own post because it is too late to edit it.

Irrfan Khan also acted in ‘The lunchbox’. It was a really good movie.

I read that Guy Richie is making a sequel to The man from U.N.C.L.E. With the same main actors.

More info on this.

They don’t yet have a commitment from Warner Bros.

They have not started filming so I don’t see it coming to theatres before the end of 2021. In any case this is not a good time for any movie that is not a Netflix or Amazon movie.

Excerpt:
After delaying the big-screen rollout of Mulan three times since it was originally supposed to hit theaters in March, Disney finally settled on an unconventional plan for the movie: Disney will sell access to the big-budget, live-action remake starting Sept. 4 for $30 on Disney Plus, its subscription streaming service that already costs $7 a month. Mulan also will debut in theaters the same day in countries that don't (and won't) have Disney Plus for now and where cinemas are actually open. It's an unprecedented move.

I don’t visit this thread very often these days because I don’t have a workable cable tv that won’t die on me. So I bought a portable DVD player. I watch some Netflix dvd movies on it.

I finally watched the Russian movie NeLubov (Loveless) last night. It was Oscar nominated for Best foreign language film in 2018 or 2019. Since I am familiar with Russian movies, I was mentally prepared for an un-Hollywood ending. :)

The story is about a couple Zhenya and Boris, who are going through a bitter divorce. They have no love for each other or for their 12 year old son. Neither parent wants the boy. The boy cries, then he disappears. For two days the parents don’t even notice that their son didn’t come home from school. After the teacher contacts them, the search for the missing boy begins. One more Loveless character enters - Zhenya’s mother. This movie could have been easily titled The Haters. It is hard to feel sorry for these awful people (the child gets the sympathy). As the story unfolds, we get some answers which lead to understanding. Then they seem a little less awful.

First 45 minutes are slow and boring, with scenes from the planned post-divorce marriages to the boyfriend/girlfriend of the couple. After the boy disappears, the movie becomes interesting and finally reaches the climax. There is an emotional turnaround by 180 degrees. It was sheer brilliance. The Director deserves all the international awards he won.

This movie was nominated for and won many international awards. Sadly on the portable DVD player it was impossible for me to appreciate its award winning cinematography. The acting by the lead female was very good. The ending scene was tied into the opening scene. It was well done. It was hard for me to judge a lot of things due to the limitations of the DVD player. I recommend that you see it on a TV (not a laptop or worse, a DVD player).

I plan on watching it on my tv after the cable issues have been resolved, hopefully by mid-October.

This movie may not be for everyone. Like many Russian movies, it sticks with reality. It is not a feel good movie. My score on the DVD player was around 7-8/10, but I expect in a movie theatre it would have been 9/10.

Saw the movie ‘The picture of Dorian Gray’. Such a sad story! The movie which is in B&W is well made. Angela Lansbury looks Very you g but I recognized her. Her singing voice has not changed much.
