"Legacy on Ice" benefit show in D.C. (March 2, 2025) and ways to help those affected by the air tragedy over the Potomac River

Woke up at 3am, bought a ticket, booked a hotel (CitizenM for 2 nights, $290), and got a train ticket. I couldn't pass up seeing both Ilias live....

ETA: Sec 117 Row B seat 10... on the end but oh well the rest were up in the rafters...

As it turns out, I am still dealing with family matters in Japan and will not be able to return in time for this show.😭

I know Peacock will be showing it, but I also read somewhere that there will be a
YouTube stream for those outside the US who want to watch. Is this true?

My friends in Japan want to watch and make some contributions, so I can tell them about that option if available.

So turns out it was not an exam but a project which he can turn in via iPad, so we are still going to be there this weekend! Had to repurchase flights but it was the same price. Woohoo.
Yay!

:wuzrobbed That's a shame... it would have been nice to meet up after all those years. I still remember that Jamaican place in Philadelphia before the Stars on Ice show, best ginger beer I ever had!

Anyone who's been to the arena recently have any thoughts on whether a 5x8 sling bag will be considered a purse? It's only about an inch wide, I'm wondering what their definition of a clutch is, and are they really going to deny me admission for an extra inch of length?

The email we got says they will have merchandise on sale to benefit the fund. If they're not allowing bags, where do they expect us to carry what they want us to buy? (I don't believe DC allows plastic bags for stores/merchants)

If you're holding it like a clutch, seems like it would be okay, but it may be wise to call the arena and clarify.

Still, as someone who carries medication, I hate these restrictions because it makes it awkward, challenging, or puts medication on display. Or it means I risk it, and don’t take meds which I can’t do when there is lighting involved.

*yes, I know medication exemptions generally exist but you either need to announce why you have meds or carry a doctors note (and since it’s 4pm on Friday…)

ETA it looks like I can take in a medical bag of a larger size but it requires I use a separate entrance...

Can you put a pill case in your coat pocket?

My sling bag is actually 2 inches wide. With my luck, I'll get some security person who thinks they're TSA and not allow me in. I'll just put my keys, phone and small wallet in my jacket pockets. They were big enough to hold a sandwich at SA and Nats, I guess they can hold what I need on Sunday.

I have a Bagalini (sp?) with a detachable strap I'm using... and I bet they won't even look in it if I carry my cane too, LOL.

The medical bag entrance is just a half block from the main entrance. I believe it’s the Capital One bank cardholders entrance so probably less crowded.

FYI - Someone who went to see hockey there this January brought a cross-body bag (9.5x8.5 inches), which was OK before, but this time she was told to put it in a locker outside the arena, download an app and pay $12. It might be different between an NHL event and a charity event, but I am not sure.

There’s an entrance for Capital One One card holders? I haven’t been there in years.
