Got this on Twitter. Couldn't have happened to a nicer, more talented or more deserving gentleman! http://oi65.tinypic.com/ifqs8x.jpg
Congratulations to Kurt!
If someone could explain what is order is...
I see several online sources saying that Kurt was given the Order of Canada in 1989 or 1990. The press release linked above says he is a Member of the Order, i.e. he's not being promoted to the higher levels of Officer or Companion. Does anyone know why he's being invested now, in 2019?
A pet peeve of mine, the Queen is the Queen of Canada and the GG represents her in her role as Queen of Canada. Not as the Queen of England.
Confused by this too. When I read the news, my first thought was, “Isn’t he already part of the Order? Otherwise, this is way overdue.” It’s been 30 years since he was accepted into the Order - why is he being invested now?
This is the Canadian equivalent of the Presidential Medal of Freedom in the US.Congratulations to Kurt!
