Congratulations to Elliana and Ethan! Happy to see great skates from Olivia & Dylan and Ash & Atl, too.

I don't mean to be horrible, but I just cannot see what the judges are seeing in PGBK. Their movements look so sluggish to me. Maybe it's just me.

Also, Patrick Blackwell is the MVP stuffie thrower today.

FD thoughts

Ilin/Cain

Very nice levels achieved on steps, skirt got in the way on lift, but they managed, nice dramatic faces from her, would like to see them let go more and be less controlled, good competition for them, growing in consistency

Kishimoto/Tamura

This music is a lot, level 2 & 3 on twizzles, got through a scary looking turn on rotational lift, a little sticky in places, nice partnering skills

PG/BK

Soft, sure movement, this seems more their style than the RD, slow twizzles, believable storytelling, good strong straight line to rotational lift at end, BK refuses to do heart motion in K & C. Do we have a new Lagha?

Nguyen/Giang

Level 4 for her on one foot steps, nice musical interpretation, nice ice coverage during twizzles, felt like PG/BK’s program developed better into a cohesive whole so judges got this one right

Peal/Peal

Level 4 twizzles, a little rough changing positions in lifts, level 2 on one foot steps, nice growth in expression switching from sci-fi/fantasy themes from previous years to this more somber, dramatic FD. Also, love how they came back from a rough Lake Placid event to have their most successful JGP season ever

Congrats to all the medalists and whee for Ilin/Cain’s (nonexistent) pewter finish!

Wow the US came close to having 4 teams in the JGP. Not bad since the Junior World champions moved up this season. The depth in US Ice Dance from top to bottom must be at a all time high. A/V came so close despite not being together very long and not any experience so i see them as one of the teams to beat next season.

There’s depth all over. I just watched the young Slovaks at Budapest,VACLAVIKOVA/MOROZOV, who were quite good.

I just caught up with the RD's. I thought that most of the teams looked better in the RD than the FD, except for Perrier Gianesinin/Blanc Klaperman, who didn't seem to capture the rhythm, and who looked like they were going through the paces.

I liked the two top Chinese teams, Yin/Yang and Yu/Liu a lot, more than a handful of teams above them. Liu, especially, can really move. Taddei-Dugue was a lot of fun to watch in both programs.

I think Basile has wonderful movement quality, and I am over the moon for Petracci/Basile's Paso Doble to California Dreaming. That's my favorite alignment of music and the required partial patterns this season.

Congratulations to the Peals! For me, they're the sibling team who are so well matched that they might very well have been chosen to skate together if they weren't even related, and their father wasn't their coach.
