JGP #2 - Czech Skate, Ostrava CZE - Men's SP & FS

Novikov - charcoal grey slacks, plum-colored shirt that has a weird diagonal slit from the neck to just above the belly button. "Rhapsody in Blue" - so, he's trying to be different, but not like outlandish like Kulik, lol. Which makes me think about another Ilia and how he reportedly wanted to skate to Swan Lake this season and was overruled... I wouldn't mind seeing Malinin take a go at Gershwin, to be honest. Back to Novikov - that was decent.

Lindfors - Dune soundtrack and his costume now makes sense - taupe, grey, beige dystopian warrior/wanderer. He's very committed to his choreo. Jumps are not there for him today.

And Bandit seems to think she needs to be allowed outside. I may have to get up and let her go or she's going to be meowing insistently at me for the next few hours, plus it's already 82 and it's not even noon yet so it will get warmer today and then she won't want out at all.

Crap, there goes the feed.
I was wondering if I was the only one. Looks like it's back though!

I have a feeling Jason may be reaching out to Monica Lindfors for some choreo next season, he was that much of a fan of Matias' program.

I missed most of Sedej getting settled back in after letting Bandit out and refilling my water bottle. I like his costume. The all black with the gold crystals covering the top half, diagonally, of his shirt is very stylish.

Ted, you really don't have to keep repeating that the skater's current rank applies to "THIS stage of the competition." We understand how competitions work. :)

"We" might but there are potentially new viewers who don't :)

Bostedt - POTO with a red dress shirt that has a ruffle on the front of it and black pants. Oh, lookie there, a cartwheel spin exit! Haven't seen one of those in a hot minute, lol. Actually, we haven't really since they changed the bullet points for spin levels and made it kind of pointless. He's starting to flag here at the end on his jumps. Lame choreo seq with minimal effort and sloooow spin to end. Should probably be enough to stay in the lead though, if the TES holds.

ETA - TES did not hold but he scraped into 1st due to his SP lead.

Aladdin in a puffy jacket. Interesting choice. Some fun moves in the program.

Gogitidze - LMAO - this costume is what we'd get with a live-action modern-day reinterpretation of Aladdin. Royal blue pants, baby blue long-sleeved dress shirt with sleeves rolled up to the elbow over a pale yellow shirt, and those are covered by a sleeveless sky blue hoodie that's got suit lapels and pockets on the front and all of this is trimmed in royal blue.

I need this kid to get the jumps. We NEED him on the senior level, filling the voidy, crazy-ass French men's quota spot.

Ebihara

Triple axels look like work-in-progress, but other triples are mastered. Great flow out of jumps. Good basics. Raised the standard—should lead by a mile!

Ebihara - royal blue asymmetrical tunic with black and silver leaf effect cutting diagonally from one shoulder to the opposite hip; black pants because Avatar. Seriously, could this kid be any more boring? He's easily going to go into the lead because he's landing almost everything cleanly save the opening 3a but my mind is wandering through his program, questioning the depth of the Japanese men's program. They're not using all 14 of their JGP spots - they've only entered 1 man each in Turkey & Slovenia and they don't have any men listed as substitutes who aren't assigned to 2 already save Nakata & Nishino who, presumably, are assigned to China.

LOL - Oh, Jason... USFS is re-imposing the "you don't medal, you don't get a 2nd JGP" expectation - mostly because we have so few spots, but yeah...

Bondar's on the ice wearing a costume that would have also been more fitting for his POTC program in the SP. And he's got another POTC program today? I want to know what that conversation about his programs for this season was like exactly that led them to using POTC twice.

Oh, yay, half-hearted sword-fighting choreo steps into the last jump!

Like I said, Canadian FSUers - don't get your hopes settled on this kid.

Raggedy ruffly long black coat for Patrick. I'd have guessed Edward Scissorhands, but looks like it's not any particular soundtrack.

And he NAILED that skate! Wow! :respec: Raspberry and a backflip -- someone's feeling his oats!

Blackwell - black leather with some small royal blue patches, there are spiky leather strips on the shoulders and he's got tails to the coat. Opens up with a clean 4T, 3a-2a seq, and another 3a!!!! Kid is laying it down so far. Clean 3lo then a nice camel spin and now he's doing some choreo that is actually a bit thoughtful. Clean 3f+3t, 3z good into another spin, 3t+1e+2s - probably was supposed to be a 3s but his TES is still killing it, good combo spin and flying to end the choreo seq and program with a back flip!

That was a great program!!!!
