It's that time again! 2018 post-canadians annual pairs and dance splits (and retirements post Olys)

i think trent michaud would be ideal for luba

Trent has a partner and seems content in his partnership...although he would be good. If you are looking at taken pair men....Michael Marinaro is really starting to shape up. Ian Beharry is off the now boats but is coaching now so might not be in shape or interested. He is the right size and is very strong though...Can u think of anyone with beautiful lines & really nice skating skills?

I wonder how many teams will move up a level or stay where they are currently. Interesting how many pair teams seem to be staying put so far!

From what I have heard, Isabella Mancini / Christian Reekie and Alison Schumacher / Zachary Daleman have split. Looking at IPS there are not many girls looking for partners which is shocking for this time of year? What has happened to all our pair girls? What has happened to all the young pair girls from the past. Looking back at the last several nationals the girls have disappeared... Jamie Knoblauch, Allison Eby, Brynn Hoffman, Hope McLean, all these girls had a future??
Seems interesting we are not hearing of more splits or partner searches. I’m not surprised about Daleman and Schumacher. I’m not sure she liked it and has so much pottin singles.

Liam Firus? :saint:

I think that Liam Firus would be a better ice dance partner than pairs skater. However, I do think that he could do both well. He hasn't made a retirement announcement as far as I know. But, I stand to be corrected if he has.

He is really little..I would think dance would be more up his alley...The jumps he would need for pairs he has and performs well.It is just his size.

Yes, I believe both he and Shane list their heights as 5’7”. Liam may be 5’7” to the top of his hair, but there is no way Shane gets that tall unless he is in skates!

I think Mark Bardei will turn 22 in July (born 1996). Doesn't that make him too old for Junior pairs?

Yes, they can't compete internationally as a junior team. I just listed them under the Junior pairs for now... would they be allowed to compete Junior domestically?

Yes. There are no age restrictions for junior pairs in Canada. But depending on their progress it might make more sense to just go senior funding-wise, if they're going to be competitive for the National team.

Charlie Bilodeau. I think Julianne might not fully recover from her health issues.

OMG...I have not heard anything about her health. I just thought she did not look at all well at Worlds. I hope not. They are now my fav. Senior team in Canada and certainly have the most talent.

I really hope that Julianne and Charlie stay together!!!! I don't think Lubov has the same jumping ability as Julianne!!! And most importantly, I hope that Julianne recovers from her health issues!!!

Julianne and Charlie just did an Instagram live (interactive video where people who follow them on Instagram can post to them as they are on phone cam) on their way home from a show in the Gaspésie area and both looked happy, healthy and like they were having a ball together (even though they were stuck at a service station in the cold as their car had run out of gas on the highway on the way home). Definitely didn't seem like a pair that was thinking about splitting any time soon!

There is the reality and there are some fans' fantasies. Not to be mistaken... :saint::saint:

I am so happy to hear this!!!!

In the middle of the season, I/M did an interview saying they were retiring and wanted to explore pro careers as they thought they had a lot to offer there.
Reading between the lines, I think something has diverted this plan, which could either be their desire to completely go separate ways and/or opportunities Dylan wants to prioritize for himself.

This would leave Luba deciding what to as a result do with her life. She's probably looking at coaching, choreo, re-pairing to compete or do shows or a bunch of things. With all the pair boys out there looking, I'm sure she's getting calls and we'll know more about direction she's taking in a few months.

If Schumacher and Daleman were to continue, it would take at least another five years for them to realize whatever potential they have. I think Zach is right for pairs and he should repartner with a girl who has experience. They will move faster. It's just too much to ask to take two athletes of this age and migrate them into pairs at the same time.

As for the pair girls who were out there at the time, most are too tall while the ones who aren't just don't seem to have the right skills.

I think Eby is the only one out there who I can readily think of as someone who can jump right back in, but don't know what her plans are.

Need to pore through the ranks of decent junior and senior ladies to see if someone will cross over to the dark side. Par example, I wonder what Audet/Emy Decelles might look like....?

I think behind the scenes there's some concern here. They are fairly accident prone in training. Not sure if that's a fluke or what but I'm sure that's being looked at.

I have heard that she could be as little as one more concussion away from being forced to pack it in. Hard to know how true that is, but, oi, how do you train under those circumstances?
