It's that time again! 2018 post-canadians annual pairs and dance splits (and retirements post Olys)

Josh Venema, age 20, is newly listed on IPS. He placed 4th in Novice Pairs with Sophia O’Brien-Doerksen at 2018 Canadians and his coaches are Anabelle Langlois-Hay and Cody Hay in Calgary.

ETA: Sophia O’Brien-Doerksen, who will be 17 this month, also has an IPS profile up -- she wants to go into ice dance and lists her coaches as Kim Weeks and Tyler Myles in addition to Langlois & Hay.

Jason Chan is newly listed on IPS, so it appears so. He is 21 and looking to compete Senior. ETA: He has also switched to the Gadbois group.

I guess they had to face the fact that this past year's results made it much less likely they would be able to make any kind of money from professional skating. So sad, but glad to hear Lubov is not ruling out more competitive skating

I think Gadbois refers to Dubreuil and Lauzon, but I don’t understand the Gadbois thing. Can someone explain?

From what I have heard, Isabella Mancini / Christian Reekie and Alison Schumacher / Zachary Daleman have split. Looking at IPS there are not many girls looking for partners which is shocking for this time of year? What has happened to all our pair girls? What has happened to all the young pair girls from the past. Looking back at the last several nationals the girls have disappeared... Jamie Knoblauch, Allison Eby, Brynn Hoffman, Hope McLean, all these girls had a future??

If you are asking about international competitions, they have to be at least 15 years old before July 1st of the upcoming season.

Thanks Sylvia...I was just wondering in the case of Alicia Fabri and Claudia Piet. junior ice dance...He has to go senior and she just turned 15. They both went on IPS a day apart and withdrew same time. I was wondering if they might have decided to stay together but compete Senior....(I wish) She would be old enough then without missing a year. Just a thought

Allison Eby had been planning on skating this season in both singles and pairs, but had an injury in the fall that required surgery and put her out of commission for a while. She will hopefully be back.

I thought she showed a lot of promise the last time that I saw her at Canadians!

They both have new partners

If Shumacher and Daleman split, what does everyone think of Lubov and Daleman?

Hard question...Prior to hearing the split I was hoping Lubov would help on their team. Alison has very good technical single skills except for her arms and she seems frozen ....no expression. This was improving by doing pairs as well. Other than the sbs jumps Lubov's pair elements are superior to other cdn pair girls. As far as Lubov pairing up...he is only a baby. I would look for someone like David Pelletier but I guess he is too old and is not interested in a comeback. I just don't know who else is out there if anyone.
