In Memoriam

My aunt played Connie Frances on the record player while sitting on the front porch - summer breezes and drinking cokes.
My mom did, too. I've mentioned this before but would like to share it again. Back in the late 50's and 60's, my dad's brother (my uncle) worked for a juke box company in Columbus, Ohio. He distributed all the latest hits on those juke boxes whenever the other hit records went down on the billboards.

My dad would receive a box of records (14-inch X 14-inch) about every 4 or 5 months from him after my uncle removed the older 45's. Some of those 45's had "Disc Jockey Record. Not for sale." I inherited all those records, and included in those records are Chubby Checker, Diana Ross & The Supremes, Dionne Warwick The Shirelles, Lloyd Price, Check Berry, Patsy Cline and Connie Francis.

I can't begin to list all the artists, but my mom would pull out all the Connie Francis records and put them in a special place where she wouldn't have to search for them.

RIP, Connie Francis. You're a legend and your music will live on.

Conductor Sir Roger Norrington has passed away. He was a character.
I liked him because of his dislike of vibrato. I'm not a fan of vibrato. I came across some recordings in the 80s. They were a revelation: clear, straight forward, no Schnickschnack as we say in German.
In 2001 or 2002 I went to a concert in Stuttgart with a friend.
R.I.P.

It sounds like he may have gotten caught in a riptide, I'm looking for something more official to confirm it. Makes sense though, they are scary!

So young, and under such horrific circumstances. Theo Huxtable is such an iconic character and a formative part of my life. The Gordon Gartrell shirt will forever be etched in my memory. My condolences to his family, friends and co-workers.

Rip tides or currents are dangerous and deadly. Two of my high school classmates drowned in similar incidents.

Too young, may his memory be a blessing to his family

Ozzy was a good man at heart, I think, but his battles with addiction were legendary, and they exacted a heavy price. That last concert, while triumphant, also gave a glimpse at just how frail he had become. RIP.

Wow what a way to go out....gives it all in that farewell performance last week and then quietly goes today. Not a metal fan but he is surely a metal legend. RIP.
