In Memoriam

She was so young! I remember her from Ice Princess, but mostly from Buffy and, as another poster mentioned, playing a psycho killer on Criminal Minds. Very talented. Sad day.

Never watched Buffy or Criminal Minds but I enjoyed Ice Princess a lot. Way too young. RIP

From Rosie O’Donnell…..

And one more article..

One of the greats with so many good roles. I liked hearing old stories of him, Dustin Hoffman and Robert Duvall before they became stars.

OMG

That’s interesting I just woke up 20 minutes ago, and read an article on the news that said only he was found passed away alongside his wife and dog.

Al Trautwig.

Al too????? I went to bed last night trying to process Michelle, now there’s been two more.

Al has such a distinctive voice, you always know his voice, even if they are not showing him on screen

I Remember all of his gymnastics competitions he did also alongside Alfie

This is from Variety.

Francis Ford Coppola has paid tribute to his “The Conversation” star Gene Hackman after the Oscar-winning actor was found dead at 95 alongside his wife, Betsy Arakawa, in their Santa Fe home on Wednesday.

“The loss of a great artist, always cause for both mourning and celebration: Gene Hackman a great actor, inspiring and magnificent in his work and complexity,” Coppola wrote on Instagram with a photo of the two on set. “I mourn his loss, and celebrate his existence and contribution.”

Hackman starred in “The Conversation,” Coppola’s 1974 neo-noir mystery thriller, as Harry Caul, a surveillance expert who faces a moral dilemma when his recordings reveal a potential murder. The movie premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Palme d’Or, and received three Oscar nominations for best picture, original screenplay and sound.

Hackman and Arakawa were found dead Wednesday afternoon at their home in Santa Fe, N.M. The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed their deaths to Variety, noting that there was no immediate indication of foul play. No immediate cause of death could be given. Hackman was 95 and Arakawa was 63.

Hackman was considered one of the greatest screen performers of the second half of the 20th century, winning Oscars for his role as Jimmy “Popeye” Doyle in William Friedkin’s 1971 action thriller “The French Connection” and as an antagonistic sheriff in Clint Eastwood’s 1992 Western “Unforgiven.” He was also Oscar-nominated for his performances in “Bonnie and Clyde” (1967), “I Never Sang for My Father” (1970) and “Mississippi Burning” (1988). He was also known for playing Lex Luthor in 1978’s “Superman” and the 1980 sequel “Superman II.” He retired from acting in 2004

Gene Hackman had so many iconic roles it's difficult to list them all. He was just so good, he could play comedy, tragedy, action, romance, and more, and never be less than 100% authentic.

Given the circumstances, with his wife and dog both being found dead alongside him, I would say carbon monoxide is the likely culprit. Such a sad week, with Michelle, Al and Gene all passing away within a couple days of each other.

Kind of sounds like that. If everyone in the house died, even the dog ...
Only one dog died and that dog was not in the house. Oh and carbon monoxide poisoning was ruled out almost immediately.

The police originally thought one had died from a fall and one got hit by a falling object. Which has got to be the weirdest theory ever. What are the odds of that happening? I think they finally got their heads out of their asses when they found the dead dog. They are now investigating this as suspicious deaths.

Born in 1930, he joined the marines in the late 1940s, and decided to study acting in the late 1950s. Hackman befriended Dustin Hoffman at the Pasadena Playhouse and the two were voted “the least likely to succeed”.
🤔 What do you suppose everyone else at the Pasadena Playhouse during that time went on to do? Community theater?
