It's just not realistic in the U.S. now, sadly (outside of SOI tours in the Olympic years). Which local Virginia(?) show on April 20th are you referring to, BTW? I'm currently compiling info on the U.S. club & benefit shows with "big name" skaters & guest stars in GSD in the near future.

Not quite. After the program clips, they showed Ilia in K&C getting his scores and his reaction and mentioned that his parents were Olympians. Similar but not exact.

I think I've had a problem w/ the music picks of the last decade or so! IDK what it is; maybe allowing of the human voice!? Love the classics; except maybe "Carmen!" It's been overdone by Men, Women, & Pairs/Dance! Maybe no one's graceful enough to get away w/ Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, & Romeo & Juliet! Plushenko's use of New Age genre of Jarre takes me back! Considering he has done 2 FS in a row to music from HBO shows that seems odd. Must be Shae Lynn who's the streaming addict.

ETA: I see the "Euphoria" program wasn't choreographed by Shae Lynn. I think I went all last year thinking she had done that program for him too.

I subscribe to the NYT online edition to not miss ballet articles. I found the Malinin article just by typing his name in the search function…not by going to the Sports section. Glad that the article appeared.

ETA that a Japanese skating fan who was on his flight home yesterday shared this tidbit:

Wearing slim black pants and glasses, he looks just like any other American teenager, and in a country where skating is a minor sport, no one recognizes him.
