I'm somewhat in the same boat as quartz - doesn't seem to matter what I wear, I'm lucky to make it more than a day without chipping. I think it must have a lot to do with the way I type on the keyboard at work. I can sometimes get away with a paler colour or a glitter for 2 or 3 days, but anything dark, 1 day is about all I get. I've ended up that I change my polish just about every night. I tried the base coat, two coats of polish, topcoat thing - took me over two hours (for the drying time between coats) and it chipped just as fast as just one quick coat of colour (which takes 10 minutes, tops). 10 min. every day or two is manageable, two hours is not. So I pretty much change every day or two (besides, get to use my many colours more often this way - I could easily wear a different colour every day for more than a month with no repeats). I'll do one quick coat if it is a lighter colour, darker colours I'll do one quick-drying base coat and then one coat of colour.
I've not tried seche vite though - I think I need to get my hands on some and give it a try.
