I Have Got to Stay Out of Sephora (and other glamourpuss issues)

In the exercise room yesterday they had on one of those real-estate porn shows, Love It or List It. The love-it lady was redoing a young couple's house and it turned out she needed a special room to film her makeup videos. I was like, that's a real job now? Needing its own space?

Ooooookkkkkkkk...

On a related note, I've seen a lot of House Hunters and the like, and more often than not, they want double sinks in the master bath.

I never understood that myself - when we bought our current home, one of the things I was delighted about was only one sink and thus the amount of counterspace I (finally!) had to spread out my makeup and skincare, and the way the mirror extended past the vanity so that I could get up close for detail work rather than having to lean over the counter. Plus, with only one sink, there's much more room for all my products underneath when I'm not using them :)

One of my pet peeves about a lot of hotel rooms is that so often there isn't nearly enough counter space in the bathroom, especially if there are two sinks.

Technically we don't either, but since it's just the two of us, the upstairs bath is the master bath :) We have a second bath that guests use.

Our house supposedly has 2.5 baths but the .5 is in the garage so it's always filthy (from dust and stuff) and no one uses it. And one of the "full" baths only has a shower, not a bath. So there is one public bathroom that is also the kids' bathroom that is always horrible because my daughter is a pig and one private bath with only one sink, no bathtub and limited cabinet space.

I we had a house where one of the bathrooms had two sinks and it was awesome! I loved not sharing. Also when Mr. Mac and I first moved in together, I had a two bedroom apartment so we each had our own bathroom and that was even better!

Oh, there are quite a lot of people who are full-time YouTube makeup people - and full-time YouTube people period. They range in legitimacy from Lisa Eldridge (who is a real makeup artist first and YT is her hobby) to random people who enjoy makeup and turn on their cameras to film hauls for 500 subscribers. I like to watch those videos while I'm working on my jewelry. Fluffy entertainment.

I love our dual sinks. We can brush teeth at the same time! Husband doesn't have to deal with my long hair by the sink! No waiting while he shaves! I thought it an American frivolity when we moved in - now I am pretty sure we would remodel to get it anywhere :P.
It still has enough counter space, but we actually try to keep the counter relatively clean. Makeup goes on the a shelf. Much nicer for us.

My favorite bathroom feature is heated floors though. Mmmmm.

My husband and I have different schedules so sharing a bathroom isn't an issue, which is great because we have a tiny old house with tiny old bathrooms. There is a 4 piece upstairs, the dimensions are about 5ft by 8ft, and a 2 piece on the main floor which is right by our bedroom and I do my hair and makeup there. It's a quirky under the stairs sort, so it's an odd shape, just enough space for the toilet and sink, with a little alcove closet on one side. In the basement we added another 3 piece bath and laundry, which is what my son mostly uses as he uses the family room as his bedroom in the summer as it is cooler.

I used to love having dual sinks (in one previous marriage and house.) The only thing better was living in that too-big house with second husband where each of the three of us, after a remodeling, had our own bathroom. Talk about first-world privilege.

I always have one of those over-the-toilet shelf units that holds all the makeup and creams and whatnot to keep the sink clear.

And, this is more clothes than makeup, but per our earlier discussion about what is "appropriate" for women, read this: http://www.haaretz.com/blogs/routine-emergencies/.premium-1.671912

paywall :( but I read the title.

Being a female politician must be so tiring. Like when Sarah Palin was running with McCain. So many (democrats) mocked her hair and makeup - I actually always thought she looked nicely put together, and there was plenty on the policy side to mock.

I can't reproduce the story because of copyright restrictions here, but yes, a young liberal lady politician, actually a distant friend of mine, ran her Parliament panel wearing a nice beige sleeveless sheath dress with a nice necklace and closed-toe shoes and was heavily criticized for showing up with bare arms. By stinky guys dressed like schlumps in the 95 degree Middle Eastern heat. Asshats.

It's a cheap drugstore brand, called Flame Red, but my eyes read it as very ripe watermelon, so it's got a definite pink undertone.
The husband actually told me I looked "nice", so maybe I can pull it off. It just looks so weird to me after wearing plums and mauves for so many years.

Sephora haul from earlier in the week and last week.

Nars Albatross Highlighter

Marc Jacobs Re(marc)able full coverage concentrate in Cocoa Deep, Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting pencil in dark brunette, Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick and lip pencil in Bad Blood, Smashbox Hydrating Primer and Nars Highlighter blush in albatross.

Also, this is my vintage inspired everyday look. I am wearing mostly everything I purchased recently from sephora. However, I am wearing the new Make up For Ever Ultra HD stick foundaton and I'm wearing Anatasia Brow wiz in ebony.
Pardon the bumps over my left eye.

Also, I tried the Boscia Vitamin C brightening hydrogel mask today. It felt really strange at first, but so far so good.

You look great! A keeper for sure.

I am currently in the USA and got to go to Ulta for some browsing and makeup shopping.

I picked up a Laura Geller iconic baked sculpting lipstick in Central Park spice.

It wasn't cheap at $22 USD each but oh my goodness.....I lurve it. I may have to go get another one.

I'm also stocking up on neutrogena moisture smooth color sticks which are my favorite chubby crayon sticks for lips. You can't find these in Canada so I haven't been shy with the purchasing. I have bought 4 so far.....lol!

The Internet at our resort is crappy but thankfully, FSU is one of the few websites I can get on and read. If I don't reply to this thread anytime soon, you'll know why...haha. We are at Chilis restaurant now where there is free wifi and where apparently the Oldtimer special is NOT the same thing as the seniors deal. It's actually a hamburger. Learn something new everyday....:D :40beers:

I got a bunch of samples from a company that makes personal care products for swimmers. The company is called SBR sports and they have two lines of products, TriSwim and DermaCare.

I find their shampoo and conditioner from the TriSwim line to be fine. And body wash is body wash -- I'm not picky there. They say the shampoo removes chlorine from pool swims but none of the pools I swim in use chlorine so I can't report on its effectiveness there. :D It's also supposed to remove salt from swimming in open water and that would be great as too much swimming in the bay or ocean does change the color of my hair. I still have one pack left so I may try that tomorrow as we're swimming in a "park" off the SF Bay.

I have to admit, I did not like one single one of the lotion products. There is a body lotion from the TriSwim line and then a bunch of "age defense" products in the DermaSport line including an eye cream and a face cream. I am kind of picky about my lotion and I don't like it too loose/watery or too greasy. None of them were thick enough and I felt like I had to wipe them off after.

I still have a face wash to try. Hopefully it will be better.

OTOH, I use their TriSlide instead of BodyGlide for getting in and out of my wetsuit and that stuff is amazing! They also make a wipe called "foggies" to keep your goggles from fogging. I'm going to try that tomorrow too. But my friends say it works great.

So I think I'll stick with my Oil of Olay Regenerist products. I love the moisturizer and eye cream and the face wash is fine (it came in the set that was cheaper than buying the face and eye cream alone).
