Happy Independence Day to U.S.A.!!

Good clarification.

I recall hearing a police officer once say that after an assault, a victim will indicate they had a gut feeling and did not follow it.....rather they told the, selves they were just being silly and their gut turned out right.

Truman was obviously referring to something else.

Yup!

I followed my gut feeling many years ago and did not drive through a body of water even though what was on the other side was attractive and somewhat important to me. I didn't know then and I found out later that the road under the water was curved and not straight to the other side. Had I tried to drive through it to the other side, I would have drowned.

An example of an unreasonable fear would be if we (some of us) had stopped flying altogether after the 9/11 attack. I think that would be the fear FDR was talking about. However, if at a particular moment your gut says Don't do this, it's best to follow that warning.

We always watch "A Capitol Fourth" on PBS. I miss the days when we got to see the entire "Pops Goes the Fourth" concert from Boston on TV. I prefer both of those concerts to our local one (in Phila., PA).

Happy Birthday, America! :cheer2:
