Happy 150th, Canada!

This morning I walked into the kitchen singing Happy Birthday to You. My husband looked at me like I was crazy (he's the Canadian in our household) but when I got to the 3rd line & sang Happy Birthday Dear Canada, he started smiling. It's been 32 yrs since he lived there but he's still a Canuck.

It's a cool day here at the farthest fringe of Canada. Lots of stuff planned but we will be preparing for the fireworks tonight. Our dog is like all others, he hates fireworks. So, thunder shirt, calming collar, tranks, cotton balls in ears, etc. And still he will whine for an hour. I think I will need tranks, too.

Going out shortly to a local campground to visit some family. Will be having a big fish fry with Lake Erie pickerel. Yum!! There will be a campfire and later, fireworks. PVRing the TFC game to watch when we get home. Got a full and fresh box of Sauvignon Blanc. Can't think of a more lovely way to spend my Canada Day. :) :) :)

Just back from the Royal Nova Scotia Tattoo where the choir did sing a lovely rendition of "Happy Birthday" to Canada.

Then we finished off with a takeout dinner of Swiss Chalet.

I'm tempted to run out for a Timmie's but think it might be Canadiana overkill..... lol!

Had a cup of Timmies on the way home today. :D But my plans to go down town tonight was scuttled by an achy tummy. :(

The celebrations in the National Capital for the 150th anniversary of Canadian Confederation culminated with 20 minutes & 17 seconds (2017, eh!) of fireworks accompanied by music. The CBC has kindly made the video available on YouTube: https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=0Lr0KHXwTeY

The early part of the day here involved downpours of rain, draining ponds of water on the lawn of the Parliament Buildings, long security lines, etc. but the rain stopped at appropriate times :)

What an impressive show of fireworks. It seemed to last much longer the 'Symphony of Fire' shows we get here in the summer, as part of a competition. By the end I felt I had a bit of sensory overload.
