Ok this is kind of delicate but is Suni estranged from her parents? I had read online that she was, and I notice only her sisters are there watching her at the trials, and she's from MN.

Also, IMO, they are spending way too much time on the families/parent cams. Show us more routines. And, if you're not showing us routines, then show us the actual athletes and their responses and interactions. Not sure about Suni, but I hope if it is, the media respects her privacy and doesn't comment on it. We don't need another Simone/Al Trautwig moment.

It's not as bad as ABC back in the day during the Indy 500 when they would always cut to the wives in the pits just as someone was about to make a move and pass the leader. You just wanted to throw a brick at the TV because of their stupidity. Luckily they don't it so much anymore. Also, IMO, they are spending way too much time on the families/parent cams. It’s because of sponsor![]()
, regardless of whether it’s the best preparation for the athletes.

Apparently there are some pretty significant differences with both the beam and bars equipment. It used to be that the team would now train all together until they leave for Paris. That would be the time to train with the same equipment they will use at the Games, if possible. I'd think floor and vault would probably vary the most.
sorry, had to do it.
I hope that the announcement of the women’s team is less cheesy than the men’s announcement last night. NBC milking it up to the max!
Yup, they’ll all show up live and in person during the Opening Ceremonies…Also, IMO, they are spending way too much time on the families/parent cams.

The podcast I was listening to said that the covering/padding for the beam is different. The Gymnova beams are squishier in that regard and it can be difficult to adjust.Interesting. I can't imagine how much a balance beam could really vary. It's still got to be the same height, width and length. Bar tension could definitely be a very different matter for both the women and men.
Just one example: I don’t think she was at Kyla Ross’s wedding yesterday - there were photos including Aly Raisman, Jordan Wieber and McKayla Maroney.Gabby Douglas posted this about Shilese:

It's sad but I'm glad Gabby found a friend in the gymnastics community. There was a lot of tension between her and the rest of the girls in Rio. To this day I think Gabby is not on good terms with Simone and Aly.
So you can adjust- it’s 8:10 EDT.Peacock coverage starts at 8:10 p.m. I’m in CT.

Well, Gabby did make victim-blaming comments after Raisman began publicly speaking out about abuse, see, e.g., https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/gymnast-gabby-douglas-apologizes-after-comment-about-sexual-abuse/.To this day I think Gabby is not on good terms with Simone and Aly.

OTOH, it seems fairly normal that people lose touch or tolerate their teammates while they have to, but move on with their lives once their time on the team has finished.
That’s why I said I’m in CT. I knew EST was wrong but didn’t know the correct abbreviation. So you can adjust- it’s 8:10 EDT.
Agreed, no one is required to maintain relationships. It’s just a bit sad to me that 4 of the “fierce five” remain close while Gabby isn’t.OTOH, it seems fairly normal that people lose touch or tolerate their teammates while they have to, but move on with their lives once their time on the team has finished.

Well, really, there are 9 gymnasts in the mix - Simone Rose, Evey Lowe, Zoey Molomo and Dulcy Caylor are here for experience. Here is the running order of tonight’s performers:
There are 13 gymnasts in the mix, after the three injured ones pulled out.

Reading that, it is even LESS understandable why they aren't using that equipment for US Trials. Whover signed a sponsor contract without a provision of being able to use the equipment athletes will be using at the Olympics for trials needs to go back to negotiating school.x.com

I posted a link from Courtney McGregor, NZ Olympian, describing how the beams are different.
