Gregg Allman dead at 69

Strange. My husband & I were just in a record store yesterday, and bought an Allman Brothers album, after I was explaining to my husband the unusual lineup of the original band (2 lead guitarists, 2 drummers).

I went to an Allman Brothers concert once--about 15 years ago now--and it was great. I always loved what Gregg brought to the Allman Bros sound--such great organ work & a terrific voice.

CBS Sunday Morning reran an interview from several years ago with Gregg Allman. He tells the story about how he taught Duane to play the guitar & another about writing his song Melissa.

I hadn't read anything about Allman for the past couple years. I don't know if he ever did, but I always hoped he would work things out with Dickey Betts because the two of them playing together sure made one magical combination.
