Well not bad from Malinin, but the difference in basic quality is just... big.
I am absolutely with Adam on this one.

I liked this program at SA OK, but it really suffers going after both Adam and Yuma.

I will say I thought it worked better in person than on screen, but yeah they have better basic flow and skating

Malinin's skating really suffers in comparison to the energy, and performance of Britsghi, the skating skills, and flow, and glide of Kagiyama, and the power of Siao Him Fa. After the fall in the short I was sure he would not lead, but the judges felt differently. Not the skate quality that Siao Him Fa had, but Malinin has better program construction to take advantage of the bonus on all 3 combinations.

203.10 = 1st Place
304.68 = 1st Place

If he wins this, It's because his PCS score is like 88 or higher if there are no q or < calls after reviews.

If he gets 88 or higher, it's a complete travesty.

Ilia is skating smarter. If the combo doesn't feel right, don't do it. His conditioning is so good. While he's got the competitive edge he needs, I'm really impressed with his team's strategy and they way they've brought him along.

Zero storytelling there until the footwork sequence. (There's just a little too much Plushenko in this kid).

Brilliant competition. Great experience for Malinin to have to skate after someone having an outstanding skate & holding up so well under that huge pressure.

Kudos to France for inviting this field. It is going to light a fire under all these guys & make them better.

Adam needs to rethink his layout, now that he's playing with the big boys. That 10% bonus could end up being the difference here.
