She pulled it off. It was a bizarre skate, but she has so much fight in her.

It looks like she got some sort of spin credit on review. I'm happy for her result, and I think overall the right result here, I'm sure she's pissed though.

Just manages a win! I'm fine with that, really. Aside from the butt-spin, the mistakes weren't egregious and she had a good lead on Rion and Nina.

"A spellbinding aesthetic on the ice," "rarely has a bad line—only time she looks inelegant is the takeoff for the lutz"... This is where Mark and I strongly disagree. I find Levito's body movement stilted and affected, and clearly designed to ape what people who don't go to the ballet imagine "balletic" to look like. Same story with Valieva and her random donkey kicks, which we were told time and time again were godly extension. Matsuike's exit out of that 2A last week was more elegant than anything I've ever seen from Levito.

I agree, it's the right result overall, but that was one weird FS from her. Lots of uncharacteristic errors.

Hm, Nina was grossly overscored - OK with Isabeau being in first overall but she got some pretty generous calling too.

Rion definitely robbed here.

Good solid judging to start but started to fall apart by group 2. :blah:

Yes, but to me when you slow down as much as Levito does that makes soft landings easier to achieve because you don't have the same amount of force when you land.
Yes, but she has the same landings for jumps like the 2a where she doesn't really slow down going into it. It's probably a combination of things, because really her technique is beautiful outside of the jump entries and that will help with her landings.

this is how you get more people watching skating isu

other ideas include reality shows about how to get passports for other countries and skaters secret sm accounts where they post what they really think

re: Frozen Passports

Oooooh can I be in it? I worked (as a very lowly assistant) at an international law firm, working on I-9 and O-1 visa applications.
I could scurry about in the background or drop a sheaf of papers when something dramatic happens.

From personal experience, it's actually very, very difficult to land a jump with any kind of 'nice' and smooth landing when you have zero speed going into it like Isabeau does, especially when she goes way down with her upper body to generate the ability to rotate.

Most others in the same conditions would likely come down with a loud thud and swing their leg around awkwardly (see Thorngren's Lutz, actually).

I have never gone into or come out of a jump with any kind of speed or grace so I really wouldn't know but whatever ice dance is more fun ok

I think her landings are the best for her technique. But with terrible technique, even the best landings will be so-so.

Miss Nina is quite lovely.

Happy for Wakaba.

Poor Isabeau, I thought she may have been injured.
