This program does nothing to highlight Kaori’s speed. A big miss for me. I hope neither Czech dance team ever goes to IAM if this is what you get.
They did remarkably well to hide LaLa and FBS's speed and power in their programs this season too.

Congrats to the medalists
Special congrats to Chaeyeon Kim on winning her first senior GP medal at her first senior GP assignment.
Also :respec:Maddie for having a nice comeback after the short and climbing all the way to 4th and 2nd in the free.

I think it's the Scottish accent that makes it difficult to get around those French vowels.
And inconsistency among the North American Quebequois, too. The farther south you go, the more likely it’s Dubrel which is how Bostonians say Faneuil… Fannel. Somewhere between Montreal and southern Maine, it slides into Dubreu. So we go Dubray… Dubreu… Dubrel.

Derailing the thread, but I still remember the day in my 10th grade French 2 class so.. 2001 or early 2002. We had an exam and one of the extra credit words was squirrel, and it had to be spelled correctly. I was the only person in the class who got it, and I said it's because a figure skater had the same spelling in her last name

But I always wondered, all those years, why her name is more like du-bray and squirrel is ay-kuhr-eye

So Mr sexy French voice on the online pronunciation guide said “Dubroy”. I live in terror of saying French and Japanese names wrong. “Kay-or-eee” ?

I'll have to ask my Quebequois relatives how they'd say it. The way I've been saying all these years it sounds more like Dubrei/Dubray.

Dubray passes muster. The actual pronunciation is close to Dubray assuming you had a really bad nasally cold.

The programs I would watch again from the free skates are Rino and Lindsay. Rino skated with such joy and nice posture and beauty in her skating. Lindsay for me was just a wow, wow, wow with every spin position and move done to the fullest. So beautiful and so interesting. What an improvement from last year. Hopefully with a little more expression added to her amazing moves the judges will start giving her higher PCS and spin GOE, etc.

Congrats to Maddie for hitting a clean skate. And to Kaori for the win. She was as surprised at her high score as I was 😁 But she is so likable! Can’t deny her skating skills.

Kaori with all +3 and one +1 for her 'Lutz', no ! let alone the full e.

It's criminal. Still on my soapbox to just call the jump based on the take-off edge rather than what skaters claim it is. That forces the panel (in theory) to actually look.

I'm terrible at "writing" pronunciation, especially with French words. I'll ask my dad and then speak it to him, but he'll probably tell me I'm wrong regardless because he always finds flaws with my French
