FSU: Rank the 2020 Programs of the Year

There seems to be a dwindling interest in this round. Maybe everyone hated the pairs LPs this year ;) but I'll give it another full day tomorrow and then we will have our final round, Ladies SP to follow.

Is the pairs LP still active? It says "Waiting for presentation to begin".

Thanks @Tony Wheeler, I'm all done now.

I have a feeling my list will be pretty different than most people's. LOL.

I think that, with pairs, it's a little bit harder to separate the programs themselves from the skaters performing them, because pairs is so technical and the elements are a big part of the presentation. Still, I tried to look at it from the perspective of, how much I am enjoying the moments spent watching this program, is it saying anything to me, are the skaters capturing certain moments in the music, and how much do I want to see the end of this story.

Sui/Han were still tops for me, simply in terms of the program, even if they never skated at the same level this season as at 2019 Worlds.

Mishina/Galliamov came dead last for me, with Pavliuchenko/Khodykin right behind. :saint:

Ladies short program is now live. Same deal as always- FSU user name if you want it to count. I'll leave it up for 3-4 days and then have a few days of contacting some people who participated in most rounds but maybe missed one or two. Then we can plan the results reveal :p

ETA: Playlist is here - again some less than favorable camerawork/events, but YouTube is pretty limited these days.

This is where the magic happens For ANL!!!
I did that poll in record time.

While I generally support the homosexual lifestyle,I find this series of posts rather baffling and obscene.

Mine was USA dominated

Tennell and Glenn (duh, you have to ask? Lol)

Surprisingly I went with Karen for 3rd. (That grew on me over the months)

Then Kihira, Zagitova, Sakamoto, Higuchi, Bell and Medev

(If Craine’s sp had been in the mix that would be top 10 for me too)

It's been interesting working on these-- it's made me think a lot about the difference between being drawn to the whole package of a program vs specific elements of it. For example, I started out with Anna Shcherbakova's SP high up, but then as I looked through the others I realized what I remembered liking about it was the music + costume mainly while I found a lot of the actual choreography lacking. On the other hand, I didn't love Mariah Bell's music but I enjoyed her actual performances + choreography, so that went up higher the more I thought about it.

(Dead last was easy: sorry Young You but neither your music nor your choreography served you well this year)

I went with someone similar.

I like Young because she has the triple axel and for me it’s interesting to watch her. She needs more time on the senior scene. But that’s almost always the case for me!
At first last season I didn't really get into Young You's skating, though I noticed she was really fast which I thought was impressive. Then suddenly at Skate Canada, in addition to her speed and power, I noticed her massive and daring rink coverage all the way to the boards, the beauty and big size of her jumps especially when combined with the fact that she is relatively tall, with good flexibility and posture. Then, I began to notice some developing grace and composure, then finally I started to like her expression. For me, the music in Romeo and Juliet and the story itself is about passion and love that's snuffed out in its prime, desperation in facing a fated end, and I started to like the intensity of emotion and the many almost frantic pirouettes, extensions and other movements in her program which still seemed under control and really expressive of this feeling, and when Young You displayed that big smile after landing her gorgeous triple axel, she just won me over.

Yup. That’s when I took more notice of her. On paper before skate Canada started I had Bradie ahead of her and then when I saw the result I had to go and sit down and seriously watch. That’s why I don’t have You in last place although like I said before someone similar I do. I actually have You higher up on my preferences!!

Going to give the ladies SP another 24 hours or so for whoever still hasn't gotten a chance.

I'm probably going to tag several in this thread afterwards just to make sure they didn't miss out on earlier segments. I have all of the results compiled in a spreadsheet so I don't need to actually reopen any of the polls- I just need an ordered list.

I was thinking of putting out a list of nominations with the top 6 in each category prior to the big reveal, and then announcing the 'bronze', 'silver', and 'gold' medalists for each segment.

Polls are locked now. There was a lot of variation in who participated between each segment, so if I tag you here and you still want to complete any segment that you didn't get around to, PM me.

@ChelleC @alchemy void @AngieNikodinovLove @ManiDani @Ladida @kwanatic @GoldenDream @Jojo @Wyliefan @ShuPa @skatingguy @Debbie S @floridaice @morqet @Hanna @casken @allezfred @MR-FAN @cris @PRlady @Orm Irian @Brholly @clairecloutier @Lamente Ariane @lauravvv @Yazmeen @Doggygirl @jennysk8oboe @Kultakissu @lily @Andora @Mad for Skating @gotoschool @pat c @miffy @3T3T @beckab81 @kosjenka @alj5 @Kateri @Colonel Green @Aerobicidal @GoneWithTheWind

I think that's mostly everyone where I have at least one segment not ranked - if you missed part of it and still want to contribute, let me know in PM :)

Late entries will be accepted until Friday night. I've received quite a few PMs from people still wishing to add their rankings, and anyone else is still welcome to PM as well. Just let me know!

Is there anyone else still planning to submit their rankings? I received plenty of additional entries, but there are a few of you who requested segments and have yet to send them.

Let me know-- ideally I want the final results determined by the end of the weekend.

Hi Tony. I've been working on some this morning. I will send them to you! We have until the end of the day, right?
