I could be wrong, but it seems to me that higher quality pet foods are less likely to have a problem that causes them to be recalled?
We give our dog Acana, which is the second-tier of a top tier Canadian kibble called Champion, but still high quality - just a slight change in ingredients. And its still very pricey, but I take comfort in knowing our dog is getting high quality food, especially given that he is a golden and goldens are prone to cancer. We lost our last golden to cancer at eight.
I believe that raw food is the best, but we just can't afford it.
