I am familiar with Novogorsk (huge multi-sport training base with large accomodation facilities) - but what is the training centre in Kislovodsk?
Pretty same. It's not a new place for skaters and coaches, Mishin, Buyanova, Sokolovskaya, Mozer and others used that facility in the past for summer camps. It's located on a high altitude place in the mountains, and they opened a big ice rink last spring, if i remember correctly.

Kislovodsk is a kind of spa city, there are many mineral springs around the city, many hotels and health resorts, aa very beautiful national park.

I'd say the worst thing about Kovtun's song is his pronunciation which doesn't sound like Russian pronunciation (not the stresses, but the sounds). Some Russian singers now have the same "foreign" sounds in melodious songs - not in rap. I don't like it. Yes, I think it happens because they want to have some "effects with the voice".

I don't listen to rap, but with Russian pronunciation it is something like this (this is Basta):

Well, I don't like the rap in general that "message" is not for me. But the rap is listenable for me only in english! I don't like it in my own language either.

Zhulin and wife have a newborn. He has no choice but to be cautious or social distance from family. Is a grand prix season really possible if we aren't flattening the curve worldwide? If we have to quarantine for two weeks before and two weeks after how will it work? Why not focus on 2021? Have they flattened the curve in Moscow and surrounding regions? Just honestly asking...

Tarasova/Morozov - attending Novogorsk camp.
Lazukin - will not attend camps, going through post surgery physical therapy on his knee.

Alina Zagitova wins "The OlympicChannel" Olympian Style Icon of the Year voting award.
she won 62% ... and from Johnny Weir, both made it to final with a large lead (i sure would not mind just this one time if Alina lost just this one award to Johnny).

Congratulations to Johnny as a runner up.

Who knows.... The statistics is kind of created as needed - for example the statistics in Dagestan is created to suit the `needs' and `to look right'

Well, anyway if a situation about an epidemic is very bad in a contemporary city, it is difficult to hide such truth. So it is not like that they can paint any statistics in Moscow - without thinking about the reality.

They think they may relax control a bit.
Now in districts near Moscow people can use transport without getting QR codes, but if a person is going anywhere by any transport in Moscow, he still needs to get a QR code (it means, that a person can do it no more than two times per week - if it is not about visiting his doctor, because one may visit his doctor as often as he needs to).
Yet articles also say, that in Moscow some services are going to start working again from May 25: the "My documents" service and carsharing. So Moscow tries to start relaxing control too.

As long as the Montreal ice dance facility is closed, I don't think there is urgency with dance. One advantage of having pretty much all the world's teams in one spot, is that all the teams will get back at the same pace.

Let's be real. The urgency is to protect the ladies. I suppose there is a fear that if this goes on for too much longer the next couple of cycles of ladies could be wasted due to them going through puberty earlier or losing form.

The dancers are all fully grown adults and are much more resilient to time off ice.

More like the dance is much more judged as the judges and technical panel see it, so they will make sure the right people get the right marks. In singles there is not as much room for manoeuvres; the skaters need to land the jumps otherwise they don’t get the marks.

The article posted originally said Russian athletes from several winter sports will be training this week. Figure skaters of all disciplines are being invited. This isn't to "protect the ladies." This is some countries/regions beginning to open non-essential things back up. Rinks are opening up all over the world: https://www.ifsmagazine.com/figure-skating-gets-back-on-track/

Yes of course. But the ladies are the ones who truly, truly need the ice time. Particularly for the reasons @hanca says below.

Oh yes absolutely. I've seen top teams do things that would have dumped other teams hard and the judges just look the other way. I'm sure the 'proper order of things' will be adequately maintained in ice dance.

Yag's footwork in 'Winter' comes to mind. Loved that.

Isn't that the program that pretty much made Nikolai Morozov? I almost feel like his whole career as a coach was based on those few seconds of that program.

I remember after the 2002 Olympics EVERYBODY, no matter the discipline, had to have Morozov "choreography." Nowadays you got some popular trends but I don't think there is anything that has reached the heights of copying that fast straight line step sequence Yags inspired.

I wonder if Mozer will attend, since she's not in the best health. Trankov perhaps? I wonder if there will be coaches there that can assist with those skaters whose coaches chose not to take the risk.
Trankov-Volosozhar are in Moscow, if you recall, they got out of MIA on time to catch the few available SU flights. It's logical to expect one of them to coach T/M. Mozer seems to also be in the area, but not certain.

Yeah, but would they risk contagion with a toddler for a season that might not be? This is just so odd to say the least. As I always tell my students any card can play, always have a plan B. There is much more to life than figure skating sometimes.

So, among ice dancers only Svinin/Zhuk teams are coming to Novogorsk (Stepanova/Bukin, Shevchenko/Eremenko).
Sinitsina/Katsalapov/Zhulin are still evaluating , Kustarova’s teams (Zahorski/Guerrero and Skoptsova/Alyoshin) are not going, Morozov/Bagin are in the States.

Moskvina’s group (Boikova/Kozlovskii and Mishina/Gallyamov) and Mikhail Kolyada with his coach Valentina Chebotareva are staying in St Petersburg.

The Tiukovs from Perm are ready to start working and would like to come to Novogorsk, but the Fed hasn’t sent them some necessary documents..

A lot of questions about how they will proceed with testing and the whole procedure..

Do any of our posters live in Moscow? What is the feeling like there at the moment?

I and my family live in Moscow and near Moscow. :)
I'd say life is quiet here. I remember questions like: "Do you know anyone who has *? Or anyone who knows anyone who has *?" People thought, that maybe there almost was no reason to make us stay at home. Since that time... I've seen some negative stories in the internet, but now I don't have a feeling that people are worried and tell each other scaring stories which somebody tries to hide from them.

There were petitions like "don't turn the N hospital into * hospital", "don't turn a birthing centre into * hospital" and petitions about giving money or some other support. And about masks or costumes for medical workers (I think in the beginning). As for petitions, I don't remember anything worse than that.

There was time when people were telling (in the internet) it was difficult to call an ambulance: some people said it didn't come at all on that day. Somebody managed to call privately-owned(?) ambulance - they payed for it (people don't have to pay for the ordinary ambulance in Russia). Many medical cars were waiting in lines near hospitals - trying to get to the hospitals. (in Moscow or near Moscow) I think it was long ago, before the time when we had the biggest number of the new cases. I don't see the same info now.

I also remember a woman telling that doctors made her leave the hospital when she didn't think that she was already healthy.
Not long ago I read a story from a man who's father had died... to make a long story short, first he had another diagnosis, the family could put him into an infective hospital, but they feared he could get * in that hospital, so he had been staying at home for a long time, later he was taken to a hospital... in short, there are words about * in the document about his death, but *** is not mentioned as one of the reasons of his death. His son doesn't agree with this document. (it was in Moscow or near Moscow) Maybe I've seen more than one story, but I can't say I see many.

As far as I understand, some people can't get another medical assistance now (about cancer, for example). I can't say: "*** is more important now!" I just trust those who try to make good decisions for the country - and I try to follow the recommendations.

I think we can't hide ourselves for the rest of our lives, but I used my right to get a QR code to go somewhere only twice.

Thank you for your post. It's interesting to read what is going on in other parts of the world. Can you explain more about the QR codes? How do you get one? Does it allow you to go to other places besides food shopping or a walk for exercise?

From the Ministry of Sports regarding C-19 testing, etc.
The national teams of Russia will drop into federal bases in stages in small groups. Check-in and accommodation are organized so that athletes, coaches and specialists from various national teams do not intersect with each other. Combined teams in sports will be placed in different buildings. The placement will be implemented in accordance with strict compliance with the recommendations of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare and Security.

Athletes, trainers and specialists will be tested for coronavirus infection. Until the test results are received, athletes will live in single rooms, in fact, in self-isolation mode.

Athletes, trainers and specialists who arrive at federal bases from other regions by air or rail will be tested for coronavirus twice. After the first test upon arrival, they will be self-insulated for seven days and then retested.

If there are negative test results for coronavirus, athletes will undergo an in-depth medical examination, based on which recommendations will be developed for each athlete. All tests and examinations are carried out by the Center for Sports Medicine of the Federal Biomedical Agency. Only after passing ULV and according to the recommendations of doctors, athletes will begin training activities.

The personnel of sports bases will not leave the base, shift work will be organized. Before starting work and admission to the base, each employee will also be tested for coronavirus.

Currently, as part of the first phase of the resumption of training activities, coronavirus infection testing has been conducted by athletes of the Russian national teams in rhythmic gymnastics, figure skating and gymnastics.

Here's a video with Alena (outside at Novogorsk?), Anna is shown for a second.
Alena Kostornaia admits: this is the most long-awaited event. Such a break - almost two months without training - was not yet in her sporting life. While the national team skaters have not yet gone on the ice, but being on the Olympic base alone gives an incredibly positive attitude. Precautions are strict: distance on the rink, in locker rooms, dining rooms and rooms.

In Novogorsk, athletes will eat at separate tables, at the rink - no more than eight people, a quarantine base - neither Olympians nor personnel can leave.

YouTube link. Starts at 18:30

I was telling about QR codes here not long ago.
In Russia a person doesn't need a QR code to go to the nearest food shop, or to take a dog for a walk (near his house), or to go to the nearest bank, or to take out the trash. A person is obliged to stay at home only if he/she has *** or if he/she came from another country not long ago. (this is what Russians call "quarantine" now). It is said, that now people who have something like flue (coughing, fever heat) are obliged to stay at home too.
Most of the people may go out, but they are expected to follow recommendations. (this is what we call "self-isolation" now)

Before the rule about QR codes we also could go somewhere else. Those who tried to have a party in a park had problems with police, but many people (having to go somewhere) were not stopped by police.
Now we need a QR code, if we go anywhere by any transport.
If a person needs a QR code to go to work or to be a volunteer, this QR code works for a long time.
If a person is going to visit his doctor, this QR code keeps working during one day. A person may get it as often as he needs to.
If a person is going somewhere else, he writes his reason to go. This QR code keeps working during one day too. A person may get a QR code "for another reason" no more than twice a week.
I did it on the official site: my name, passport number, "going from" (the address), "going to" (the address) - and about the transport: the licence plate number of the car or the number of the transport card.

It was said there were problems about getting and using QR codes in the very beginning, but when I decided to get one, I had no problem. In the first day (when the rule about QR codes started working) there were crowds in the subway, because the police tried to check the documents - one day (as far as I remember), but people were really worried.
Now the police doesn't try to see every document. Nobody tried to check my documents. But as for the subway, a person can't buy an ordinary ticket now anyway: he can use only his transport card (if the owner of this card has a right to go somewhere today, he gets to the subway).

As far as I know, we are not expected to "walk for exercise" now. Some people write in the internet: "I call the police when I see all those moms taking their kids for a walk!" Though... it seems I didn't see stories from moms who had to pay fines for that. I don't know.

I disliked the news about QR codes, but now... I also have a feeling, that even today my country gives me the right to go somewhere even "for another reason". I know people in some other countries had no such a right. We have a right to go from Moscow and to Moscow. Many Russians disliked that Moscow wasn't closed... I don't know what would be the best decision, but maybe those decisions which we have now are not bad. I'm grateful, that our country tries to control the situation, and I'm also grateful, that life goes on, even if our life is quiet now. :)

When was the first day of your quarantine? In March or April?

🤔 It's hard to say.

From March 30 we had "non-working days" in Russia (the internet says it started on March 30), but there were some limits and "recommendations" even before that. Tinami was saying that Averbukh didn't follow "quarantine rules", when he was telling in March that most of his employees already worked online (could work from home). (https://www.championat.com/figuresk...ranichil-obschenie-ne-sizhu-na-karantine.html) The date of this article is March 23.

This is an article about some limits. March 16.
Some limits in Moscow - March 13.

We have QR codes in Moscow and near Moscow from April 15.

"Non-working days" for all the country have finished on May 12. Every region can make their own decision about the situation.
