Alyssa Liu, whom she’s helping. Sylvia posted the link above.
Criticism, when it comes from the right place, is a good thing. I always tell my team - let me know what I can do better. A passive-agressive form is a totally different story.

Is there a chance of them getting added by the coaches council, do we think?

I've no idea what the usual policy is in Russia regarding junior athletes. Personally, of course, I think Ushakova & Nekrasov certainly have a strong enough resume to receive an invitation to Junior Nationals if such invitations are given out. (As the highest-placed returning junior dance team from last year's Junior Worlds, silver medalists at last year's JGPF, double gold JGP medalists last season, the only Russian junior team to have defeated Nguyen & Kolesnik, etc). I mean, there is no chance U&N would be last at Junior Nationals.

Just a reminder: Sakhanovich came off with 2x silver at JGPF and JW (2014 and 2015) to finish (second to) last at junior nationals 2016.
So stranger things have happened. :shuffle:

But yeah, in dance, I know what you mean. I would like to see them skating there but can't see them being in the mix for a podium based on their last outing.

So U/N only ended up skating one Russian Cup event, from what I saw, and thus did not qualify not junior nationals. Is there a chance of them getting added by the coaches council, do we think? Or do they have no shot at JW?
Russian sports site shows Ushakova/Nekrasov participating in Jr. Golden Spin of Zagreb this week. Perhaps they have hopes for finding a reason to be included in Russian Nationals.

Maria Sotskova - announced she will not take part in Russian Nationals this year.
"I am skipping this event, Russian Nationals, due to my health condition. At present i consider it (my health) my priority (it needs the most attention)".
«Я пропускаю этот чемпионат России, не буду выступать по состоянию здоровья. Сейчас, считаю, нужно вплотную заняться этим вопросом», – сообщила Сотскова.

Aleona Leonova - explained why she will not take part in Russian Nationals this year and why she decided not to participate in Russian Cup series in order to qualify for it. She gave a video interview (it's in Russian, if any one is interested in can post it, it is long). Some of the info was published in print.
  • She decided not participate in Russian Cup series because she did not feel like it (verbatim).
  • She was hopping that by some luck she might get to skate in a GP event, like it happened last year, because that gives one the right to skate at RN.
  • But that did not happen, and she decided not go through the Russian cup qualification process.
  • She thinks she could have qualified, but after her skate at Panin Memorial, her knees start to hurt somewhat, and at present she can not handle too much pressure on them.
  • She is not training at full capacity, just one training a day, just to keep fit.
  • She does not know when will she skate in the next event, and will wait until next season to see when and where, and if she gets any funding to go to Challenger or any b-level-events. Right now she is taking care of her knees.

I will miss Aleona. She really put herself out there - never dull. I hope she recovers from her injuries and can reflect on a successful career if this is it for her as an amateur.
Leonova is not injured. She said "her knees hurt somewhat/a bit".

Sorry - I did not mean to misquote you. I have always enjoyed her and wish her well whether she continues next season or moves on.
Oh, don't worry about "misquoting me", i just don't want Leonova's condition "remain in print" as a wrong one. She said she is practicing on ice, just less than before, because her knees bother her.

She is at the rink few times a week. Recently she was given a doggy Bella as a gift (a foto and a video in IG), she was wearing skates.

Ushakova & Nekrasov defeated Katashinskaia & Vaskovich during that debut outing. K&V have the third highest SB among this season's Russian junior dance teams.

Not me.

Sorry I don’t think anyone deserves this. We all have major disagreements with some posters. I have put some on ignore but to suggest that All should ignore her (I assume you meant Tinami?) is not nice. She has contributed useful information many times. We all have idiosyncrasies. We can tolerate some but not others. So it depends on your tolerance level for a particular person. When I can’t stand it, I use the ignore.

Occasionally there are trolls and they may deserve to be ignored by me, but some choose to read their posts. So I don’t think all should ignore them either.
I had the same approach, but now the Ignore button is my best friend. Trolls thrive on attention. I am as guilty as anyone giving it to her. It's nice to log on, and not to see this stuff. I am totally fine missing "useful information" in order to avoid obsessive behavior, accusations, and hateful innuendo.

I think the stranger thing here in hindsight is that Sakhanovich managed to place so well with that horrible 2axel of hers.

Sakhanovich didn’t used to have problems with axel before her puberty started, which is the reason why she was placing so well.

Irina Slutskaya gave birth to her third child. Baby girl was born few weeks ago, Irina and her husband named her Kira
Slutskaya was on a TV show yesterday, talking about it. It appears she kept the news of her pregnancy pretty low, until the birth of the child. 3 min. clip. She looks good given she is 40 and just gave birth.

I agree with @Vash01.

Look we ALL have our quirks. We love certain skaters and despise others. There are some posts I just roll my eyes and other posts I appreciate...by the same poster.

She's still adorable, of course I can't understand what she's saying, but her affect hasn't changed.
There is not much "news" in what she is saying or being asked. She is fine, the child is fine. The host compliments her on still looking young and in great shape for someone who had a baby. She is smiles and thanks. She did once appeared on the news looking pregnant, but nothing was in the media about it after. And now... a baby. Irina knew about the risks, given her age and past health issues, and that's why she did not want any publicity/media attention. Now the baby is happy and healthy, so she can talk about it publicly.

He asked how she managed it at 40, she said that with supervision of 3 doctors/specialists. She named her daughter "Kira" and with husband's patronome, it is Kira Alekseevna. The host presents Irina with a Russian Orthodox Icon - Saint Kira. Long exchange of pleasantries.

It is a segment from a longer interview of 53 minutes, on a regular TV programme with host Korchevnikova "Судьба Человека" ("Person's Fate" or "The Human's Story").

That's such BS from you. You started it this time about "Medvedeva", by piggy-backing "poor Medvedeva" and equating critique of her actions to blunt and violent hate against Zagitova "only for winning". The conversation was about Zagitova. YOU made it about Medvedeva, intentionally. It was a blunt trick and I called you on it. Now you're pretending you're a victim, when you are the initiator.. :D

As far as I can recall, Ushakova & Nekrasov have their international debut for this season the day after tomorrow at Golden Spin.
For those without access to the Golden Spin Junior competition thread, Arina USHAKOVA / Maxim NEKRASOV are leading the Jr. RD in Zagreb (still going on) with 62.34 [31.02 TES / 31.32 PCS]. They were 1st to skate. No live streaming known at this point. :(

ETA that U/N placed 2nd to USA's Wolfkostin/Chen.

Aleona Leonova's comments on nevasport.ru.. :D, one of them is:

- Хотелось, конечно, увидеть в финале и Елизавету Туктамышеву.
- Она более достойна участия в финале, чем американка Теннелл.

- It of course would be nice to see Tuktamyseva in the Final.
- She is more worthy of participating in the finals than the American Tennell.
