There must have been a reason why they decided to split up. The reason wouldn’t just go away only because Vakhnov is suddenly without a partner.

What about pairing up with Davis? She has improved quite a lot, considering she has been doing ice dance only two years.
They split up because she wanted to switch coaches and he didn't. According to him anyways.

Diana Davis is too good for Vahknov. It would have been better if he moved along with his previous partner.
I agree about Diana D. If there is no better partner for Vakhnov then Polischouk is his best bet, given they won titles as jr's. Given there are more girls than boys to choose from in russian ice dance, i hope he finds a different partner, more elegant and more flexible. Polischouk is good for a junior, she is technical and "dancy", but not very flexible or graceful, and at times looks vulgar.. "Expressive" is good, make up "in character" is good... but there is a fine line when it becomes comical and vulgar...

I think he can do better...

what on earth means that someone looks vulgar?
Usually something like:

vul·gar /ˈvəlɡər/
adjective
  1. lacking sophistication or good taste; unrefined.
    "the vulgar trappings of wealth"
synonyms:tasteless, crass, tawdry, ostentatious, flamboyant, overdone, showy, gaudy, garish, brassy, kitsch, kitschy, tinselly, loud; More
    • making explicit and offensive reference to sex or bodily functions; coarse and rude.
      "a vulgar joke"
synonyms:rude, indecent, indelicate, offensive, distasteful, coarse, crude, ribald, risqué, naughty, suggestive, racy, earthy, off-color, bawdy, obscene, profane, lewd, salacious, smutty, dirty, filthy, pornographic, X-rated; More
    • DATED
characteristic of or belonging to the masses.
But it's a matter of taste. :)

... missed the "ruins" last time.. :D

It is a mutual decision, both parties talked and agreed that both women need a change. it's with Tsareva's blessing.

When Panenkova was asked why Tsareva is not with her at the last two GP events, Daria said that Tsareva now has a group of Novice and Jr. skaters and plans to devote her time to raising this new crop, supposedly taking a break from coaching Sr. skaters.

Okay, makes sense. Best of luck to them!

Not sure if this has been posted here yet

You can see from the big screen, it was Katya who was supposed to be skating, but she is pregnant, so Elena was a last minute replacement.

Looks good! Ilinykh/Soloviev for Olympic champs 2022!

And I’m so happy for Katya! I remember she was talking about having kids even back in 2015, so this is wonderful news.

What about pairing up with Davis?

For a moment here I thought you meant Meryl Davis, then figured out you meant Diana 😂

Polischuk/Vakhnov were one of my favourite couples. I was very disappointed to see them split. I often rewatch their R&J and Black Swan. I thought they were very balletic and elegant. I can’t imagine why anyone would call her vulgar.

Congrats to Katia and all the best Anna With her new coaching team.

Great interview!
Love her positive attitude and wish her best of luck.
Sometimes it's hard to believe that she is just 24

- We started to work and had our first camp in a city near Moscow. And there were some children, also some adults – but, all in all, not so many people. But now when we talk [end of August 2018], we have our schedule booked for one more year.
- From this day, one year fully booked?
- Yes. And we were in shock, like: How did we manage to do that in just half a year?
I mean, we knew this was a project we needed to work on, and we didn’t call anyone, but people started to call like after two months, and now we are already booked all around the world – we’re going to Norway, Japan, America, Canada, Mexico, France, and some other cities in Russia as well.
:kickass:

But I’m not the person who’s like sitting and crying after this… and now I’m really happy for him with a new partner, and I’m really cheering for them. I like this couple so much, I love how they look together, how they’re skating. I still think Nikita is the best partner in the world, and I also like Victoria, she’s working hard, and I love this couple! They have their style and I think they’re one of the top [teams] right now.
I’m gonna cheer for them. Yeah, for the next Olympics I think I’m gonna cheer for them.
Of course, there are some sad moments also, and I can talk forever about this, and how it could have been… but it’s history! We have our medals, we’re happy with this, we have a great relation right now me and Nikita, we had a talk and we realized what we’ve been through. I cannot say we’re like great friends, but we’re always supporting each other with some things. And he knew about our Academy, I called him and told him, and he supported us also, he came for a master class…

Kolyada is the better toreador.

Kovtun could've just been skating to everything. No interpretation of note whatsoever. But well...as I already said in he Russian competitions thread...I didn't expect much after he said in an interview he picked the music because he liked it when Plush used it for his FS at the 2002 Olympics and that he didn't know neither the title nor anything or that it is a warhorse in figure skating. This says pretty much all about it.

I agree, did not like Kovtun's programme, expression, and even the costume (too much, and not the right shape).
His jumps were better and stronger than Kolyada's last skate.

Team Voronov!!!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:
Voronov might be the only Russian man to make it to GPF... :cheer2:
