Flooding in Louisiana

There have been flooding in Louisiana because of days of heavy rain fall and it is being blame for at least five deaths. I have seen images of people trying to save horses stranded because of the flooding. It doesn't look like the flooding is going away anytime soon and hope no one here is caught up in it.

It's awful. My boss is based in Monroe and one of our co-workers is going to lose her house. It is outside of the flood plain so she didn't have flood insurance. The same woman's father lost everything - house and all furniture. I feel so bad for them.

Thank you for starting this thread. I didn't know about the flooding until I heard from a friend who lives in that area.

Flooding is awful, and I'm so sorry for them.

However....MOST people with flood damage in a given year DIDN'T live in a flood plain. Not living in a flood plain does not mean you shouldn't have flood insurance. This drives me a little nuts. It is much cheaper insurance if you don't live in a flood plain. It is a terrible false economy not to have it.

It seems Louisiana is coming out of it, but Texas is still in danger.

More flooding in the south, particularly in Texas.
