Oh, I was hoping for the gold for Amber but her score dropped quite a bit with the reviews. Still an extremely strong performance though. Good for her .... she did the best she could do today. She'll be great at the GPF. Congrats to all the medalists.

I like both Amber and Mone. But if you’re going to review Amber, you need to review Mone’s jumps too. Both had rotation issues that could be called. Either review or don’t review.

On the plus side, that's the most I've enjoyed Amber's LP as a performance. There's still work to do, but she was expressing the music more throughout, and not just during the steps.

I will say that Glenn's free skate is deadly boring and often seems to be skated in slow motion. No qualms on her PCS being lower. But the tech panel certainly seems selective in calling.

Mark making me insane. If you weigh 45 kg it`s going to be easier to get around. Again, is it a women`s sport or a little girl sport? I had the same boredom with Mai Mihara that went on for years.

Dangerous slope you have here. Tinier doesn't mean easier to rotate. Ever. Mone Chiba is 20 years old. Not a little girl.

So far looks like the results of another Italian nationals. Lol although I think Sarah Maude will disrupt that.

Well now Amber can add a silver to her GP medal haul - it was the missing piece!

I wish she'd been able to add a double toe on one of the other jumps, but also glad she was able to deliver yet again after making a jump error. Better to do it here than later in the season.

Amber gives up points on her steps and a bit on spins, which are good but not as good as some ladies.

That being said, the panel overlooking some of Chiba's jump issues and jump edges just confirms the subjectivity that has always plagued this sport.

Amber has the firepower but not sure about the mental game to win when it counts. She was basically in the same position as Alysa was at Worlds but Alysa seems to welcome the pressure and Amber tries to push it away. You can often see it on their faces Alysa seems to not have a care in the world and Amber has a bit of a worried face.

I don't know how it is that basically every Japanese lady is so pleasant to watch just skating around, but it's nice for the sport.

Is it? My reaction is boredom. I`ve watched decades of 45kg women skating around pleasantly. Rarely relating to the music. They do get their jumps and have good use of the blade but what does it add up to, really?

Chiba's first combo was clearly in < territory in my book for the second jump; the first jump should've also been called. I need to look at the others on reply.

It's ridiculous. How are we supposed to believe that all of these jumps were landed exactly 45 degrees short? It's a statistical impossibility.

The few <s called should've been <<. Sumiyoshi got a q on her triple salchow which was in << range. Ridiculous.

First and foremost, I love all the Japanese skaters and I constantly have issue in every last competition with them looking the other way for skaters from every last nation. I mean I was the resident Miyahara rotation realist for many, many seasons while saying over and over I'd probably give her the highest PCS.

What is more interesting are the select people that find the scrutiny for jump rotations to be 'way too much' for their enjoyment of the sport and go on tangents how the threads just turn into that kind of stuff--- until their selected favorites lose out from panels not doing it.

10 skaters; 24 q calls. This has to be a record. Meanwhile, only two underrotations and two downgrades (one of which was on an euler).

This is not proper application of the rules and clearly an outlier.

What does he mean by “when it counts?” She won everything last year but worlds and was winning everything this year but this competition which had extremely questionable judging. Don’t get me started about the Canadian judge. I have to go look at her cuckoo protocols right now for the free.

It doesn’t have to do with “anyone’s favorites”, if I’m gonna devote 15 hours per weekend… August onward to watch this .. then the judging needs to be consistent across all levels, could you imagine if it was football and the referees don’t call offsides or penalties for a team that’s clearly committing them? It’s just another state of corruption that doesn’t go away. Now let’s go to ice dance, where we can see the corruption Magnified.
