What's the best way of travelling to the rink by public transportation from center Helsinki?
We need for Finnice to confirm because I haven't been to the arena in Espoo, but the CityMapper app (free and recommended) says you can take Metro Line M1 from the Rautatientori Station near the main railway station westward (in the direction of Kivenlahti) to the Urheilupuisto station in Espoo and then walk for about 6 minutes. The arena is just north of the Metro station. It seems Metro Line M1 runs about every 8 minutes during the day on Saturdays; frequency probably varies at other times and on other days.
It sounds super-easy. If you're not staying near very near the railway station, boarding at a different Metro station might be better for you.
There are some museums east of the arena that might be a useful break if the competition schedule has significant gaps. I liked both EMMA (modern art) and the smaller watch/jewelry museum. There's also the Museum of Play (games, etc.) that I didn't have time to check out. CityMapper tells me it's a 13-minute walk from the arena to EMMA. There's no sign of public transportation available, but there seem to be rental bikes.
EMMA has a cafe serving lunch that's probably accessible without visiting the museum if you want a change from arena food. The museum is closed on Mondays and seems to be free on Fridays between 3 PM and 7 PM. The other museums I've mentioned may have the same policy.

@acraven, you are right. The metro is very easy to use. Most of the hotels are near Rautatientori, Kamppi and Hakaniemi Stations.
There are some supermarkets and restaurants near the rink, and also at the shopping centres Ainoa in Tapiola station and Iso Omena in Matinkylä station.
I second visiting EMMA.
