I’m watching the first episode and did I hear them introduce Johnny as a world champion? 🤔
I assume they forgot to say the "Junior" before it. ;)
I had no idea this was filmed in New Orleans. It would have been cool to be in the audience!
That would have been fun for you! (and it would have been interesting to hear what you might have seen during the filming)

I hated season 3 of Picard.
I loved it, but it was very sentimental and I’m not surprised you didn’t like it, just because you don’t strike me that way (not that there’s anything wrong with that!).
The first season was good though.
I liked the first season of Picard too but didn’t like the second season as much.
And Strange New Worlds is fun. I also got hooked on Lower Decks even though I rarely watch the animated ST stuff.
I like these two, too. I was late to Lower Decks but enjoyed it.

Yeah, I found a lot of that stuff pandering. Plus I like new stuff. Going back to the same characters, villains, etc over and over is something that annoys me unless it's done very well and is a very small part of the story. Doctor Who is really bad about this too.

I only watched Lower Decks because of the crossover with Strange New worlds. :)

I liked seeing how the characters had changed, and not changed, over the years.

That may be true for me, I can’t quite remember. For sure I didn’t start watching Lower Decks at the beginning.

Main trailer for Senna on Netflix has dropped (series premiere Nov. 29)

I have a lot of mixed feelings about it. I don't think the guy looks much like him (though the Prost casting looks spot-on). I have misgivings about how the Senna vs Prost rivalry will be portrayed. Likewise, there is still a big omission from the character list, though I note a few actors don't have character credits yet. There is a cast for poor Roland Ratzenberger and the trailer shows a scene that is clearly Senna watching Ratzenberger being loaded into the ambulance after his accident so it's clear they're going to 1994. Unless they want Michael to be a late-arrival spoiler, I'm not sure why they haven't listed him.

The racing scenes look CGI goofy and a bit cringey. I guess I'll have to wait til it drops to judge fully.

So I’m kind of addicted to monsters, the Menendez miniseries on Netflix, holy crap, Javier Bardem what an actor …. he’s so good.

First of all, I remember hearing about this when I was still living in Chicago as a late teenager and then, by the time I moved to West Hollywood/Beverly Hills the case was going on on TV but I wasn’t really following it as I was still not really interested in news at that age.

Holy crap I googled the Menendez house. It’s literally a seven minute walk from my home….

I was always wondering where is Elm Drive in Beverly Hills… it’s literally a quarter of a mile down sunset for me. I cannot believe that I live that close to their house and where they lived. I’m gonna drive or walk past it today but I hear they have fencing up to block all of the people that are coming to see it since the TV show.

I also see a listing for it on Zillow right now for 17 million… Holy crap it even shows the actual room where it happened.

I can’t believe what I’m watching in this TV show ….all the stuff that happened. After watching the fifth and sixth episode now I think I actually have sympathy for the parents if this is true. Oh my gosh I don’t know what to think on this. I just can’t believe that I live in the same neighborhood as the Menendez family.

Oh, and someone just told me that the office that Jose Menendez worked out of is literally across the street from me. I can see it from my living room window. It’s literally just across the street… his office.

I guess I should not be surprised all the nostalgia I live around even one of Marilyn Monroe‘s apartments where she shared with Shelley Winters is on my street.

Probably because a second season was not planned when it was made, although it's done well enough that it may get one regardless. They didn't want to tease something that may not happen.

Sometimes post-credit scenes are about some other part of the MCU though.

I'm glad they didn't have them. I liked how each episode ended with me wanting more. Post-credit scenes would have diluted that.

Not new shows but I finally got around to watching all of the Supernatural series. It really should have ended before it did. I also have started re-watching X-Files. There as so many similarities that the Supernatural writers had to have been X-Files fans. X-Files leaned more into aliens and Supernatural the angel/demon theme but there are enough monster episodes that basically were the same episodes. I don't think I would have noticed this if I hadn't started watching these back to back.

I ended my Prime subscription due to the Washington Post, so have a 3-month free trial with Apply TV+.

Ted Lasso? So fun, great show!
Presumed Innocent? Easy and watchable binge. And Jake Gyllenhaal is still hot.
Pachinko? Just watched the first five episodes and all I will say is that I was sobbing through the white rice scene.

Apple TV has some great tv shows, but their movies aren't much for me. Also, their offerings are very limited. Besides their own productions, you have to pay to watch anything else. What exactly is the point of Apple TV? Is it just a matter of quality being over quantity. I don't know, I wished Apple TV had a huge catalogue of stupid Xmas romcoms.

Apple TV+ has great stuff; binge Slow Horses with Gary Oldman or watch the mystery Lady in the Lake. Watch Disclaimer with Cate Blanchett and a terrific Kevin Kline or The Morning Show with Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. Keep looking; there is plenty of content you seem to be overlooking, in my humble opinion. Of course, YMMV.

Shrinking with Harrison Ford; they are in the second season.
The Morning Show with Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon and others.
Watch Ted Lasso all the way through and you will pick up a lot of connections that you missed the first time around. The Reluctant Traveller with Eugene Levy.

I have not watched the Kevin Kline movie mentioned or the new one with George Clooney and Brad Pit.

Tom Hanks has done a bunch of short films; the only one I didn’t like was Flitch or Fletch or something like that.

They also have great documentaries: Fathom about two groups of whale researchers and their research into whale song; The Year Earth Changed, about the first year of the pandemic; The Elephant Queen, about an elephant matriach’s efforts to keep her family alive.

I have an Apple Gift card that I got on sale through the rewards program on one of my credit cards. You can’t use apple gift cards to pay apple credit card bills, so I’m going to use them on Apple TV+. But I’m going to wait a little while yet and then try for a free month; I might have subscribed too recently, not sure.

Following up on my Apple TV+ post, I just redeemed another Apple Gift Card, on sale for 10% off. So now I have 2 $25 gift cards on my account, which cost me about $44. When I redeemed this latest one, an offer popped up on my phone for 2 free months of Apple TV+! So I accepted the offer. I'll watch for 2 months for free and then either use gift card funds for another month (if I'm in the middle of something) or just drop it for a few months then sign up again using one of the gift cards.

I was pretty surprised to see the offer and the redemption seems to have worked properly....

ETA: Oh, and I forgot they have a Charlie Brown Christmas!

Hulu’s Black Friday deal came out today: $0.99/month for a year. I grabbed it right away and reactivated my account. Timing is just right because I am all caught up on Shrinking on Apple TV+ so now I can binge the 4th season of Only Murders in the Building.

Oh thank goodness! My year of $0.99/month was up last week so I had to cancel and they offered me $2.99/ month for six months. I passed it up in hopes that the better deal would come. I’m in the middle of watching Nashville so I’m dying to get back to it lol. I’ll have to use one of my other email addresses to get the new deal.

Try it with the existing email, it might work! I have two email addresses I've used, but I think canceling more than a month before has worked for me. I always put a note on my calendar to cancel before the October payment. It also seems like no matter what "people" say, they keep offering this deal. I had one deal at $1.99/month several years ago, but since then it's been $0.99/month.
