My current point being that's just how good T/D were. I really didn't know!

And watch their routines from pro-career. There were so many fantastic ones. I'm posting several of them. But look how different they were. I don't think there was ever a team who was so versatile. They could dance anything.

Out of all of their professional numbers, I've always been partial to Encounter. But I also love Revolution/Imagine as well.

Golden Waltz
Grishuk & Platov 1998 Olympics (even with her error) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TuU9MWmwfY
Virtue & Moir 2010 Worlds - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHpzI6g2VHc

The camera work for V/M's 2010 Worlds Golden Waltz may be the worst I've ever seen for a CD. So aggravating! I also wish we could see V/M perform the Golden Waltz this year, as I suspect that they would do an even better job with it now than they did in the past.

I always liked Usova & Zhulin's Ravensburger (1991 Worlds): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8MfEHAI54M

Yeah that camera work is terrible.

Here's another one of V&M skating that dance. It's from 2009 TEB.

I was going to post some links last night, but we had thunder and lightning. When that happens, I avoid using electrical outlets, except for the TV. It's going to be like that a couple more nights but if I make it home early enough, I may be able to post some.

I had listed T&D's OD at the 94 Olympics, K&P's Paso Doble at the 92 Olympics, AP's FD at the 88 Olympics and some more.

Thanks, Vash. It will take me a long time to get to them but I definitely will! It's great to have all this in one place.

Full patterns of the pattern dances for last year's and this year's short dances:

Midnight Blues (partial pattern used in senior SD 2016-17)
vs.
Blues
(junior SD 2016-17)

Rhumba
(senior SD 2017-18)

Cha Cha Congelado (junior SD 2017-18)

We could find examples of famous teams doing most of these dances.

Midnight blues is pretty new and was only used as a full compulsory dance in 2002-03, 2003-04, and 2004-05 seasons for seniors, 2006-07 for juniors.

Cha Cha Congelado is also relatively new and was only used in juniors:
2000-01, 2004-05, 2007-08

I was looking up old videos of the Rhumba compulsory dance and found the broadcast of a whole bunch of them at 1984 Olympics. Might be the entire field.

Part 1:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGckC9Tl6yA
Part 2:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0U7ttpUMAI
Part 3:

It's kind of fascinating to watch and compare different teams tackling the Rhumba pattern.

One team's rhumba that I thought was very strong was Bestemianova & Bukin's. The widestep going into the choctaw was huge and both the left forward inside edge and the right back outside edge were both taken very wide and looked equal to one another. I think they were maybe the only Russian/Soviet team who could perform it properly. K&P, U&Z, and G&P's double choctaws from the rhumba CD were all disappointing to varying degrees. I remember U&Z's rhumba CD from the 1989 Europeans and both steps of their choctaw almost looked like straight lines.

A rare performance by Grishchuk & Platov, at a gala in Russia in 2007, skating to 'Color of the night':

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihZHvCEr8VU

I can't help wondering- what if they had not split so soon after the 98 Olympics?

There have been so many different versions of what happened after the 1998 Olympics. But wasn't Oksana/Pasha looking at quitting skating so she can go to Hollywood? If so, I'm sure Platov had to think about his future and making some money. I also vaguely remember Platov saying that he and Oksana did some post-Olympic performances in Japan but they didn't go over very well for a reason that I can't recall. I also think he had had enough of Oksana's excessive behavior and wanted a professional career that was free of stress. Oksana OTOH has claimed that Platov's decision to skate with Usova came as a shock to her and I think she also claimed that he didn't split prize money with her equally (something about them belonging to different sporting clubs or something like that).

Platov also claimed that Pasha told him he was only responsible for like 30% of their success (it might have been even lower) or something like that.

May be she was just upset when she said that, but it's a well known fact that they didn't get along throughout their career.

I want to LOL as I can believe her saying something so nutty.

She was definitely one of a kind. I actually found her extremely entertaining during her crazy-Pasha days even if you were laughing more at her than with her.

This FD from Rahkamo and Kokko is one of my favorites ever. I love that they were parodying other ice dance teams in a competitive program. I can't imagine any skaters having the nerve to parody anything in a competitive program these days, especially not their competitors.

This program also resonates with me because the performance that made me a figure skating fan, Khokhlova and Novitski's 2009 Euros FD, could also be interpreted as a parody of other ice dancers. That probably wasn't their intention, but who cares!

To post something not posted before :

Rahkamo and Kokko 1992 FD Memory :

And I've always loved Delobel and Schoenfelder programs from 2008 and 2009 :

2008 OD : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4GJ2h6stOU
2008 FD : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3siEAJZ-IKM
2008 GPF : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bILl9Xd5LoQ

I also liked their free dances from 2005 and 2006 too as well as their OD from 2006 (I thought it was underrated).
