I thought Dylan deserved his own "headline" - best wishes to him in the next chapter of his life!

Skate Canada's press release today: https://skatecanada.ca/2018/04/olympic-medallist-dylan-moscovitch-retiring-from-competitive-skating/
Excerpt from the end:
Looking to the future, Moscovitch plans to stay involved with skating through coaching, seminars and mentoring. Moscovitch will also continue with his motivational speaking work, in which he has become highly sought-after on the corporate speaking circuit over the past few years. In addition, he has signed with B&M Models and is planning on perusing an acting and commentary career.

His skating partner, Ilyushechkina will be evaluating her opportunities in the coming months.

I'm glad he spent the final part of his career with Lubov, as they created something very special together. I was really disappointed they didn't make the Olympics; they were a year off with their best skating. Best of luck to them both moving forward. :)

Very best of luck to Dylan in the next chapter of his life. I can't believe its time to say goodbye to him, Eric Radford and Meagan Duhamel who I first saw live at 2004 Canadians in Edmonton in the junior ranks. Seems like just yesterday!

And good luck to Lubov on whatever she decides to do!

I will never forget seeing MT/M at Skate Canada 2010 in Kingston, when they did their Les Mis program and he took her up into a lift from gliding on one knee on the ice right at the end of the program and the crowd went absolutely wild. Have had a fondness for him ever since. Best of luck to him wherever life takes him, he has represented Canada well for many years.

From Lubov on her FB:

I'm so incredibly thankful to get to know such an amazing person, share 4 exciting years of skating, which completely changed my life, thrive through all the ups and downs holding his hand almost every day.
I'm so thankful to have him as my careful partner, my patient guide, my inspiring example, talented skater, persevere athlete and a very close friend.
He gave so much to the skating world. His charisma never left people indifferent, his friendliness opened up the most sceptical hearts and his dedication inspired many people to keep pushing and not to give up.That's how people know Dylan.
From the depth of my soul I wish you, Dylan, to be the way you are. I'm sure there are many exciting adventures waiting for you, many new people to meet, many different opportunities to explore and i wish you all the luck and success in any direction that you choose. I truly believe that you deserve only the very best.

That was a beautiful statement from Lubov, they really seemed to have a special connection and bond. I really would have loved to see them in PyeongChang but sadly it wasn’t to be, maybe they peaked a year to early. Wishing them both the best of luck in their future careers.

Is their a suitable male pairs skater free in Canada?

Aw, there goes my last reason to watch pairs skating. Wishing him all the best, with much thanks for gifting us with his wonderful skating and sportsmanship over the years, and representing his country so well.

:respec:

Wishing him all the best. I wonder if the accident caused an injury that would make even show skating a problem. And maybe Lubov wants to pull a "Savchenko" and find a younger partner to continue in pairs.

What about Audet or Chudak?

Glad to hear Dylan will run his own business. But i thought they will skate in shows for a while. Is that not true?

In Canada we only have Stars on Ice as a professional show. They normally only take the top cdn pair and top 2 dance teams. Last yr they were asked but W&P were not able to attend and V/M only did a few of the shows due to it being an OLympic year.

Love them both and very sad not to be able see them compete again. Always checking here to see what their new programs were . Will be a dead year for me...Thank God there are little squishies to watch.

I've always liked Dylan and wish him the best on his "next stage". Lubov described many of the attributes of Dylan so well.. I really wish they had gone to the Olympics, but I'm glad to have seen this partnership over the last few years. i wish Lubov the best as well on whatever she decides.

Lubov is an excellent pair skater but if she wants to continue competing, she really needs a good jump technician. Triples were really tough for her.

Luba's triple jump problems were mental and only happened at competitions. A technician is not going to help when you do them fine at practices.

If working with the technician makes her feel more confident and secure, than it absolutely will help in competition.

A lot of times mental or emotional issues in competition can have a physical/technical solution.
(not to put down your suggestion at all as I have no idea or expertise of what would work) but do you mean someone like a "jump whisperer" or is this a common problem and people who are known to deal with it? I have heard of spin doctors. I believe earlier in his career Patrick Chan went to one as he had problems with spins.

Dylan and lubov had something really special ... initially I didn't think they were perfectly matched, but somehow Dylan worked really hard to soften his lines and the pair really won me over. A real real pity that they didn't make it to pyeongchang together but it was still a magical career. My favourite programme of them is the Rachmaninov, but even the cheesy josh groban was beautiful. How old is lubov? Really really hoping that she gives it another shot (if her heart is in it) and skates for one more quad!

iirc Lubov is about the same age as Kristin so I think 25 now?

Anyway, just wanted to say how much I enjoyed watching Dylan skate ever since the days he was competing with his sister. Great skater, solid partner, and such a great ambassador for the sport. He conducted himself with class. I am so glad he was at least able to enjoy one Olympic experience and have a silver medal to show for it.

Best of luck, Dylan.
