DWTS S26: All-Athletes Edition! (i.e. the DWTS thread for NOT yammering about what happened 24 years ago)

Somehow I think they are trying to drum up pity votes (and ratings) to extend her past her exit date.

I can't pinpoint the obvious but I'm guessing.

;)

This fits my earlier "agenda" post as well. In fact, I was typing it out as we were waiting for the votes (that Tonya would be called as Bottom 3) but then they called it before I had time to post so didn't bother. :blah:

As for her “story,” bleah. But her dancing - really nice, very graceful, she did a lovely routine. However, she was overscored would have her below Mirai.
Was there a story? Was it before the commercial and I missed it? I only saw a one minute intro bit. Anyway, she was better than I expected and benefited from the late dance order

Her skating accomplishments and how it was “all taken away” from her. But I didn’t expect much else. Her dancing was quite good.

Mirai has been my fave U.S. lady since she hit seniors. But my one criticism of her skating was her concentrated wood face (I suffer from this in my own skating). But tonight, holy shit, she was so expressive and danced beyond what I expected.

Adam was Adam. Funky, dancey and the RuPaul cover made me happy. Great job.

Oh Tonya. I started skating because of you. I admire you risking all the hate. Your dance was nice. Your dressmaker must hate you. She looks fit and fab in skating clothes, like Betty Big Boobs in that dress. And bottom 3, nope, not right. At least I saw real effort there and a shine of talent.

Tonya is known to the entire world population and in a generally good light recently while Adam may be somewhat well-known after the Olympics. Mirai, I don’t think as much. I think Tonya actually may be the one to beat in this competition as much as some people think otherwise.

In spite of the judges score, Tonya was in jeopardy which might mean her online voting scores likely weren't as good as Adam's or Mirai's. I don't think she'll be the one to beat. Relative unknowns have won the trophy before like Bruce Willis's daughter - I sure didn't know who she was other than she was introduced as the daughter of two movie stars, Bruce and Demi Moore. And after the Olympics, Mirai and especially Adam aren't THAT unknown. Their Olympic exploits were reported on during the Olympics and they kept receiving press afterwards - again, especially Adam. And in spite of the show being just four weeks long, by next week anyone who is actually a fan of the show will know who Adam and Mirai are - the top dancers along with Josh for one thing. They were visibly better than everyone else!

The ones they list as 'in jeopardy' are actually rarely the lowest point getters (other than those actually being eliminated). It's used to drum up drama. Like when Meryl and Charlie were put into 'the bottom two' against each other, just for the drama, though Meryl was actually receiving the highest amount of viewer votes each week (in addition to being at or near the top of the leaderboard.)

I've never voted before. Is the phone voting a separate thing? If I voted during the show online, do I now also call in?

Yes, first you do the live online vote on abc.com, then after the show you phone in your votes and also vote on DWTS Facebook!

(I've also edited these links into my post #3 in this thread.)

Tonya was amazing, especially right after saying truthfully,"as everybody knows, I'm not graceful." Kudos to her hard work and her partner. However, I am dubious that she's going to be able to sustain this level with the faster dances. Looks like Mirai or the football player FTW to me. Obviously the producers want Adam to win but I'm not so sure. I enjoyed Jenny too and her partner Keo is adorable, so I hope she can loosen up and develop. The others - meh. But I hated seeing Johnny Damon get cut the first night. Such a great player. Why humiliate himself like that?
