Re-posting 2 of my posts in the Skate Canada International Men's FS play-by-play thread in the Kiss & Cry section:

From a self-proclaimed Jason stan (includes a photo of 2 Jason banners in Halifax) who watched the early Sunday morning practice before the FS: https://x.com/fzzt_simmons/status/1850506247478427952
tracy and jason having a long technical talk following drilling some triple axels, looking at clips on her phone, looks like he’s letting one of his shoulders/sides get away from him
Note: This fan has more Jason skating clips posted on her X account.

Transcription of what Jason said in the mixed zone after his FS: https://x.com/goldenskate/status/1850575116931158328
Excerpt:
Re his state in the season and reconciling what fans are accustomed to seeing from him later in the season: On average, this is what I do on a training day and where I'm at. So that was, you know, similar to last year and the year before, but no one saw it. It wasn't something that I was putting out in competition. And so by the time I was competing, I was very much more polished, which made me a lot more confident. And so this is an experience where I'm a little bit more vulnerable. I'm putting myself out there, you know, and obviously I always want to go out there and skate my best. So it's hard having these moments. But I think the biggest thing that Tracy and I are going to have to go back and discuss is what is the takeaway, the learning and kind of putting that, in a lot of ways, that ego aside, and being like, Okay, I'm going to go through the muckiness, and you guys aren't going to see the muckiness as it goes.

Jason did a short Q&A at the Shanghai Trophy.

The venue was where he skated his first senior Worlds in 2015 and he talks about the memories. He also talks about his new exhibition program, Hit The Road Jack.

He is now Uncle J. - welcome to the Brown family, Nico!

It was a different Jason at this Worlds. After kind of messing up the short he was total business for the FS. No beaming smile when he came out. No projecting to the audience during the steps. It was a poker face throughout and skater almost as good as he ever has. He more than a skating emissary. He`s a competitor.

I was so worried that Brown was sacrificing longevity for a second competitive phase, but such a relief to see that his problems were equipment related and fixable, and to see not only his gorgeous, fluid movement quality again, but also his toughness in getting past what was likely frustration after doubling in his combo in the SP to looking genuinely happy after the FS was wonderful.

I was going to post this clip comparing his River Dance in 2016 and that of 2025, and Jason himself post it on his IG!

There is a heartfelt article (in Japanese and behind the paywall) about the relationship between Jason and a little boy, so I summarized here:

https://digital.asahi.com/articles/AST4833XVT48IIPE00HM.html?ptoken=01JRAH6ZAV11ZX1N23DDH6FS3S
(there is a video clip of the surprise reunion between Jason and the boy on this page that you can watch)

Jason has been visiting and volunteering at The Ronald McDonald Houses, residential facilities for children with incurable diseases and their families, wherever he has been after the competitions or shows he has done.

This time he visited the one in Sapporo, Japan, where the SOI will be held.

Jason visited there before - in 2019, he met Aoi, then 6 years old. When Aoi was 4 years and 8 months old, he contracted Perthes' Disease, which caused partial necrosis at the base of his femur and left him unable to walk. After meeting with Jason, Aoi watched his performance. “I was impressed that Jason seemed to be having so much fun skating.”

It took Aoi 4-5 hours by car between his home and the hospital. During the difficult and lonely times while fihgting his illness, Jason's joyful appearance gave Aoi strength.

When Aoi started training to walk and posted it on his SNS, Jason commented "You are wonderful. I look forward to seeing you again!" Since then he has been trying ice skating, boxing, and various sports for rehabilitation.

This time, Jason visited the McDonald House in Sappro for the first time in 5.5 years. Aoi turned 11 years old. The reunion was a surprise to Jason. Aoi had prepared a message in English. Aoi conveyed his thoughts and feelings word for word to Jason, who could not hide his surprise. "I have missed you so much“ Aoi said, ”(Now) I (can) go to school every day.

Jason said “Wow.” Speaking in Japanese, "Aoi, who was in a wheelchair, started skating. I could see that he never gave up and worked hard. I was the one who was more energized and encouraged by Aoi."

Jason and Aoi promised to skate together on the 9th (this Wednesday).

Aoi said "If you can enjoy doing things (like Jason), it makes both you and the other person enjoy doing things. That's how I want to spend my time. The next time I see Jason, I want to show him that I have become even stronger."

(I have been at WTT)
Jason designed and prepared the T-shirts that the US team wears for WTT (see picture below) literally in a few weeks after he found out he was doing WTT and will be a team captain.
