The reason why they worded it like that is because all three of the senior men at nationals were lacking TES minimums for Worlds, so because PJ was the only one who got them, he's the only one that can go. It's not the same case with the senior ladies because Karly and Natasha both have the minimums. If Graham had got the minimums, then he probably would've been considered over PJ.
Ahhh I see! Many thanks :)

I am sad for Graham but glad that PJ earned the chance to go - great result for him!

I agree, they really should reconsider: Karly got 31 TES at Challenge Cup short program today (5th place).

I'm sorry to rant about this again, but I just don't get the decision to send McKay to Worlds at all. She's placed 32nd two years in a row, and is very unlikely to qualify for the long program again this season unless it's a major splatfest and she goes completely clean.

Robertson just scored 161+ at Challenge Cup (McKay scored 140 at Euros). Karly does 3-3 in the SP, and has consistently scored higher than McKay all season, except at Nationals, where she lost by a point. I understand abiding by nationals results to determine the Euros team, but holding to that nationals result for Worlds too just seems so shortsighted.

I even could understand it if McKay was a young prospect, but she's not. Why insist on sending the skater with not only considerably less scoring potential but less consistency as well?

At least Karly is listed as a sub so maybe they will do a Russia and swap :D

I see Phillip Harris is sub for Men’s... I wonder if PJ didn’t get the minimum score if they would have actually sent him? I thought he was retiring. I like him so I would rather see him skate than hear him do commentary... that whole Facebook feed commentary was pretty shocking overall

Uh oh! Really? I may not understand how this all works.

ETA: I just follow a few of the skaters and thought there might be other fans of other GB skaters out there. If I'm the only one, no worries...this will just sink to the bottom and disappear, yes?

 Let's not forget that the great Christopher Dean and Jayne Torvill hail from Great Britain. And that Jean-Luc Baker was born in Burnley, England in 1993 to Sharon Jones Baker and Stephen Baker who were both competitive skaters (ice dance and pairs, respectively). :cheer2:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Dean
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jayne_Torvill
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean-Luc_Baker

Steven Cousins and the great Robin Cousins are unforgettable:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_Cousins
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Cousins

John Curry's contributions are exceptional and transformative:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Curry

Even current champion pairs skater, Vanessa James, competed in singles for Great Britain early in her career:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanessa_James

And oh yes, Fear/Gibson are on the rise in ice dance! :encore:Also, of course, Coomes/Buckland and the Kerrs were very accomplished ice dancers! And John Kerr and Christopher Dean continue to make important contributions to the sport via their innovative choreography.

In addition, historically, we have Cecilia Colledge of Great Britain to thank for the layback spin!

I was pleased to see Rei competing a British event again, she won Novice at Nationals a few years ago but then seemed to focus on Japanese events only. She is so far ahead of most other British skaters it would be great if she decided to represent GBR internationally (if she wanted to of course!)

Speaking of internationals does anyone know how many spots Britain get on the JGP particularly in Men? I saw that Edward Appleby has been assigned Latvia and Croatia, and Joseph Zakipour has been assigned Poland. I was a surprised Conor Bray was not assigned anything. He is very promising IMO.... and also got good scores last week.

one per event in in the three that you've mentioned I believe (unless I completely misread the announcements about JGP)

Based on GBR skaters' results at 2019 Junior Worlds... 1 entry in 3 events for the men; 1 entry in 5 events for both the ladies and ice dance teams. Are there any GBR junior pairs? If so, 1 entry in 3 events.

ETA:

@miffy, do you have a link to the JGP men's assignments you mentioned?

Me too! She's such a lovely skater and from what I've seen of her in training very focused and determined. Keeping my fingers crossed this means she's decided to represent GBR, I'd love to see how she'd manage on the JGP.

Hi Sylvia, it wasn’t actually an article... I think it was a series of posts on the Facebook page UK News On Ice... around a week or two ago I think. I don’t know if you can link to FB here?
I had been hopeful we had more as I still feel Connor should get internationals but if we only have 3 places that’s it for the JGP then. Hopefully they will be able to send him to some junior b type events 🙂

Kristen Spours has moved to France to train with Florent Amodio  I hope it will work out for her! She certainly has strong jumps for a GB skater but does seem to fall behind in other areas scoring wise. Hopefully the move will work well for her.

PJ Hallam mentioned that he gets no funding from BiSA. Is that because BiSA only got funding for short track from UK Sport for the entire Beijing Olympic cycle?

Lol! Well, I'm not a complete newbie here, but I'm not an old-timer. You never know when you're blindly/naively stepping into some decades-old brouhaha. ;)

Don't mention Jamie Sale ever, and you should be okay. I'm sure there are a few other things to avoid discussing, but they don't come to mind at the moment.

Bobsleigh, speed skating and figure skating stripped of funding for 2022 Winter Olympics (July 2, 2018): https://www.telegraph.co.uk/winter-...skating-figure-skating-stripped-funding-2022/

I've posted the link to Hallam's crowdfunding campaign here: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/threads/help-a-skater-out.105809/#post-5637833

Steven Adcock, 24, who competed in Senior Pairs at the 2019 Canadian Championships with Mariah McCaw (together for 2 seasons), has teamed up with Anastasia Vaipan-Law, 20 ( http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00034546.htm ), according to this recent Ice Dundee post that includes 3 practice clips: https://www.instagram.com/p/B4dNGbLpcEN/

I did some checking and it looks like Adcock last competed at the British in Dec. 2015 when he won the Junior Pairs title with Chloe Curtin.

ETA:

V-L/A are not listed for the British Championships (not enough time together to qualify, I assume) - link to the national comp. thread in the Kiss & Cry section that I started earlier today: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...nships-in-sheffield-nov-28-dec-1-2019.106322/

Here's an article I did about Jones/Boyadji of GBR. It tells about how they teamed up & what their lives are like now.

Good news for those who can't attend the 2019 British Figure Skating Championships in person (link to the entries/results page is posted at the end of this press release):

Rose Brown & Hernandez earned 151.58 in the junior dance event at Golden Spin. Am I correct that this score counts?

And if yes, can anyone confirm whether it is the highest international score earned in junior dance for Great Britain this season?

Fear & Waddell had 138.51 at the Baltic Cup, which is @10 points higher than Rose Brown & Hernandez's PB on the JGP. However, if non-JGP events count, I've not been keeping track of other late-season junior dance events/scores this year.
