Ok....I don't know if anyone has heard about this, and I just found this out myself. But apparently there was news about Ashley Wagner who has tried twice since 2012 to make the Olympics, and both times she was scored low. Even throw they said she skated perfectly. The news also said that she got really mad at the Judges and it is believed she got scored low on purpose. Does anyone know any more details about this? This?

She finished 4th again, but this year she did not have the international results to be selected over the person who finished 3rd. I don't think you can say she was swindled.

Just for record....this happened at a competition last night...It has nothing to do with the injury problem from Nationals.

But the competition last night was nationals. I may have missed something, but wasn't the injury issue for Wagner at Skate America where she withdrew from the free skate. I haven't heard anything about an injury at this event.

You are confusing Nationals and Skate America. Nationals happened last night. Ashley Wagner placed 4th. She was not chosen on the team. Bradie Tennell, Mirai Nagasu, and Karen Chen were chosen because they placed ahead of Ashley.

@FSWer some news organizations try to create a "story" where one really doesn't exist to spark controversy, which leads to ratings. Ashley was scored lower than usual on program components but she also didn't skate as well as she has in the past and people in the arena described her short program as lacking its usual spark. She did place 3rd in the long program but not by a high enough margin to make up for her lower short program score.

I wouldn't surprised if it turns out to be a scandal. After all...look at what has happened to OTHER Skaters. Take Jamie and David and Tessa and Scott for instance. I mean....did Jamie and David end up as part of a scoring scandal?

There won't be. Ashley has already accepted the decision and congratulated Bradie, Mirai, and Karen.

@FSWer, these types of scoring situations happen in figure skating all the time. It's a difficult decision for Ashley, but she's a professional and she will deal with it, and learn from what happened and go on to have a good life.

I'm sorry if you are a fan of Ashley's and feel sad for her. Send her an encouraging message. Take care.

skating is prone to “scandals”. How many years later and people are still talking about Henie’s reaction to how figures were scored in 1936! Lol
To me, all it means is that Ashley is more popular to the mainstream than USFS realized.
Add that to the idea that the media has been jonesing for a “scandal” since Tonya/Nancy: bobeck over Tonia in 98, Hughes over Angela in 02, Kwan over Hughes in 06, flatt over Mirai in 10, Wagner over Mirai in 14, now Wagner over Chen in 18. God these people are desperate to sell papers!

Right, and what choice did she have? It's been more than enough for Ashley to have had to take her career into her own hands and fight tooth and nail for everything she's accomplished. No respect, but that's figure skating.

Ashley's immediate reaction is exactly how she still feels, but she's a professional too, as well as a realist.

Ashley's immediate reaction is exactly how she still feels, but she's a professional too, as well as a realist. It's similar to how Mirai felt in 2014 -- in a rebellious mood, until she took a deep breath and got counsel from supporters and realized she'd have to accept the decision and keep fighting for her career like nobody's business. Even then some in USFS were still trying to sabotage Mirai (just ask Tom Z). That hug between Mirai and Ashley backstage said it all. Mutual respect and understanding for what it feels like being dismissed. It's like in corporate America when you're pushed out and you simply have to resign (sometimes with a golden parachute). Ashley has no parachute and nothing golden except her courage, desire and feisty 'tude.

It was interesting that the podium shot showed all four ladies standing apart from each other, instead of close together. No love lost, although there's great respect between Mirai and Ashley, but they were on opposite ends of the podium.

Here's Phil Hersh's take: http://web.icenetwork.com/news/2018/01/06/264361486

Nope Phil, it's not the position Ashley should be in, but yes she is gracious, at the end of the day. Yep Ashley needed to take better stock and make some different decisions post 2016 Worlds, but USFS is also at fault in many many ways. Stop loading all the blame on skaters.
This is not the place for one of your rants. Take it back to the appropriate thread

This thread really belongs in the Kiss and Cry US Nationals forum, where the subject has been discussed at far too much length already, so I am going to close this one. If anyone has more to say, you'll have to find another thread,
