Denis Ten Fan Thread!

He is such a well-spoken nice young man. :D Hope he wins the Worlds, so easy to root for him!

Ten hosted a skating show with figure skating stars last year and wants to repeat such a show in Kazakhstan by inviting some of his figure skating counterparts from all over the globe. His only concern is that the show was named after him, and he’d like to change it to something bigger, something like, “Kazakhstan Invites Friends,” he said, “to place the emphasis on our country first of all.”

He's such a great guy. :D

I really like him and would like to see him get more consistent. He will need to be in order to medal at future major events. He didn't get the scores he deserved at the 2013 worlds and to a lesser degree maybe 2014 Olympics due to not having enough reputation built up, but there were so many mistakes he was able to medal anyway. I think we will see the men get more consistent, so Ten will have to skate more consistently year round and build up his reputation, and start to get the scores his beautiful skating merits when he skates well, to stand a chance.

HE MAKES NO SENSE :wuzrobbed
Yeah a guy with 2 World medals and a Olympic medal only has a single GP medal. I think most of his problems early in the season are in his head. A skater of his talent should not have only one GP medal in his career.

He's a late season skater. He isn't the only one. Slutskaya was one. Carolina Kostner. Maybe Jason.

Denis pushes himself to tackle two new programs every year (since 2009). I really believe this is how his learning process works. All those disastrous skates we see early in the season are the way he feels his way through those programs. I think he had a lot of years of not understanding that and being frustrated, but he really seems to have come to grips now with the fact that this is his process.

He still should not be bombing in his early competitions like he always seems to do. Kostner and Slutskaya still won medals on the GP even when not at their best but Denis takes himself out of contention and someone with his talent should be better then that.

Has any vid of his FS turned up? I only saw a poor quality vid of his SP but it looked fantastic. The somberness of the prayer theme is well timed after the tragedies of the past month. Does he have the most beautiful jumps in the world? The height is eye-popping and he seems to hang there for a split second. What a fabulous skater. I'm so glad he is back. All is forgiven. J/K, he needs no forgiveness from the likes of me.

ETA: nm, found it.

I'm kind of glad Denis is not from a skating powerhouse country because with the way he performs on the gp circuit we would probably rarely see him participate in the big events.

The relationship between Ten and Yagudin is unsufferably good. :)

Yagudin and Trankov were cheering for Kazakhstan, when Denis Ten wanted Kazakhstan to host the Olympics. Ten and Yagudin congratulate each other and praise, praise, praise... They are going to Mars together. When Ten's thoughts are serious, he also remembers Yagudin...

you can see this by the link (photos, smileys and etc.)

Not the Olympics... but the Universiade will take place in Almaty soon!

:) Denis must be happy. If I understand right, he is going to skate on 3 and 4 February and he will participate in a big concert on 5 February.

It seems Yagudin promised to come too, but he doesn't speak about that. Only dates in his plan: 6, 7, 8 February - Almaty. Dates are not the same...

Denis tells about a charity master-class for talented children which Denis Ten and Alexei Yagudin will give at Almaty Arena on 17-19 May.

and also from Ten's instagram:

(on the Victory Day)
tenis_den: Congratulations to all the veterans.

(on Tatiana Tarasova's anniversary)
tenis_den: I spent in Moscow 7 unique years. When Tatiana Anatolievna came back from USA, I was one of the firsts whom she took to her group. Working with a legendary couch was a dream which came true. It was the most fantastical experience in my career, I wouldn't be the man which I am, without that.
Tatiana Anatolievna, thank you for everything.
Happy birthday.

A new article on Denis Ten from GoldenSkate.

His peripatetic lifestyle continues--he has trained all over the place this year, but says he will be returning to Los Angeles (and Frank??) for a while, at least. He has 2 new programs choreographed by Benoit Richaud and David Wilson. He's not ready to reveal the music, but says the SP is by a Kazakh artist.

Perhaps most surprisingly, he says he may continue beyond Pyeongchang.

Anything is better than what Morozov did with D10 last year.

somebody: He loved you. Not long ago in Astana I asked: "Is Yagudin going to skate in your show?" He said: "Not this time, unfortunately." ((((

alexei.yagudin: Unfortunately, today has happened the thing which shouldn't have happened, which we didn't expect to happen. I think I say it for all the mass media, because I can't talk on the phone anymore, and for f*ing babblers in the internet who write all kinds of sh**. We've been crying all day long, because such a person has left this life. Not just a skater, but a Great Guy.
Yura, Oxana, we can't even imagine how are you now. Forgive us, if maybe we didn't save your son's life.
