ISU Communication No. 2124 - Decisions of the ISU Council (October 20, 2017): http://www.isu.org/communications/15290-isu-communication-2124/file

Figure skating items include:

2. ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships 2019
Based on information received from US Figure Skating, suggesting a different venue, the Council decided to move the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships 2019 [it had been provisionally allotted to Colorado Springs, CO]. Accordingly, the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships will be held in Anaheim, CA, USA on February 4-10, 2019.

3. ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships 2020
The Council provisionally allotted the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships to be held in Colorado Springs, USA on April 3-5, 2020.

4. ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Calendar 2018/19
The ISU Council confirmed a revision to the dates of the Grand Prix Events to be held in France and Russia for the 2018/19 season. The Calendar is therefore as follows:
October 19-21, 2018 USA
October 26-28, 2018 Canada
November 2-4, 2018 China
November 9-11, 2018 Japan
November 16-18, 2018 Russia
November 23-25, 2018 France
Junior and Senior Grand Prix Final December 6-9, 2018 Vancouver, BC, Canada

5. ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Calendar season 2018/19
The Council approved the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Calendar for the season 2018/19 as follows:
August 22-25, 2018 Bratislava, Slovak Republic (including Pair Skating)
August 29-September 1, 2018 Linz, Austria (including Pair Skating)
September 5-8, 2018 Kaunas, Lithuania - 1st time here
September 19-22, 2018 Harbin, China (including Pair Skating)
September 26-29, 2018 Ostrava, Czech Republic (including Pair Skating)
October 3-6, 2018 Ljubljana, Slovenia
October 10-13, 2018 Yerevan, Armenia - 1st time here

8. Olympic Winter Games 2018 PyeongChang - Host Country Place for the Republic of Korea for the Olympic Pair Skating Competition
The Council decided that considering that the NOC/ISU Member from the Republic of Korea has not obtained a place for the Olympic Pair Skating competition through the normal qualifying procedure and considering the available "host country place" in accordance with ISU Regulations, Rule 400, paragraph A.6 and the IOC approved Qualification System, the NOC/ISU Member from the Republic of Korea may enter a Pair into the individual event of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games Pair Skating competition. However, this "host country place" will only be implemented if there are remaining places from the ten (10) Team event “Additional Athletes Quotas”.

Eventhough Colorado Springs is about a 1hr drive from where I live I’m very excited that 4CC will be in Anaheim instead :cheer: I can visit family, have some of the food I miss and of course watch skating :D it’s like the ISU had my best interest in mind :p

I also like that the JGP will go to Lithuania and Armenia.

I think it's cool China is hosting a JGP event. It will be a nice change for some additional skaters to get JGP exposure.
China has hosted JGP events previously (but it's been a while) - I looked it up:
1998 in Beijing
2000 in Harbin
2002 in Beijing
2004 in Harbin
2010 JGP Final in Beijing

So I guess 4CC will be at the Honda Center then. Does anybody know why they moved it?

Probably because the last time 4CC was held at Colorado Springs, a goodly proportion of skaters barely made it through their programs without collapsing! Skaters that didn't train at altitude (most of them) and didn't get to CS well in advance in order to acclimate--were at a distinct disadvantage.

Exactly! I was dreading this comp because it was at an altitude. Everyone falls like flies in the FS.

Didn't Colorado Springs host Worlds multiple times back in the 50's and 60's? Altitude didn't seem to be a worry back then for the skaters.

Aside from Dick Button, no one was doing triples. And certainly not quads.

Actually, the change of location may be more related to finances rather than any concern about skaters at altitude. There's simply more of a potential ticket purchasing base in So California....theoretically at least. It will all come down to marketing. And LA area is easier to reach than CS for fans coming from other parts of the country (or other continents).

:cheer2:And I am thrilled to see that Skate America will be in October again instead of Thanksgiving weekend.

Right??????

Russia requested they go first this season but I don't remember why.... They don't host the Final... Olys aren't there... Worlds aren't there..... what was the reason???

OHH.... I just realized France is around Thanksgiving.... I went one year and it was a great time to visit. I might have to make that the skating event next year depending on the location.

Of course 4CC is tempting. I expect US Nationals are going to be in Detroit and I think I can skip that :)

You've never driven down the San Diego Freeway in rush-hour traffic, have you?

If you live where you have a choice... Fly into Orange County, John Wayne Airport. I commuted to this area for 6 years for work. Trust me it's MUCH nicer :)

Of course, most of the international flights will have to go into LAX
