Whoa...that's an unexpected interview source:wideeyes:. I love that he said he wants to make the sport more accessible.
I'm really surprised with this interview TBH. From her past history, PJ was not very favorable towards them in her remarks since Vancouver. There were so many backhanded comments made. It is refreshing and shocking to see that she requested this interview. It was a good one and I'm happy if her thoughts have changed after this. On a side note, I'm glad he mentioned Igor.

I found his comments about the infamous Cup of Russia OD really interesting, especially about how the way Meryl treated him that day cemented the partner dynamic that resulted in their success. (That was my take at least.)

PJ is not completely forgiven for her tortured American cheese slices analogy, but it was a good interview.

Love it that the Giselle SD is one of his very favorites.

Yes, there was an earlier interview (Raising An Olympian?) where Meryl said it was the first time she had to be the supportive partner and it had a big impact on their relationship.

It was a good one and I'm happy if her thoughts have changed after this.
It's much easier to see the truth about someone when they aren't a threat anymore.

Charlie is so genuine I don't know how he survives in this world.

To be honest would she be this way now if D/W had decided to come back and started beating V/M again like they did for almost 4 years leading up to Sochi? It's easy to be nice when that team is not a threat anymore and is retired.

I think of PJ as an uber instead of an unbiased critic. She just favors who she favors. In fact, most Canadian commentators are nationalistic in that way. It used to annoy me a lot at the time. I was apprehensive when Tracy was doing commentary with Charlie last season, but even that turned out ok. Well, none of this would be happening if they hadn't retired. I don't think Charlie would be this candid either if he was competing right now (he even said fricken :p). It changes everyone's perspective. We even got an interview with V/M at Worlds by Charlie! I'm just in awe of what D/W are able to do to influence others just because of who they are as people.:)

Do we get to keep this thread title forever??

Seriously...life as a DW fan is so blessed. They are so wonderful and continue to reap the benefits of all their hard work. And we just get to sit back and enjoy their exposure and journey of new found purpose in life outside of sport. It's funny to me seeing people enjoy them now that were *ahem* not inclined to do so before they retired.

Most definitely! They keep saying that they take their role model job seriously. It is not just kids, but even adults who can learn so much from them. I love how they move on so quickly and not dwell on things, whether it be success or failure. Just so many qualities to admire.:)

@justtojoke cute avatar!:lol:

Thumbs down to Nick McCarvel for not asking Meryl about the LotF U.S. tour during the podcast. That's kind of big news! When she mentioned LotF in Japan, he said he forgot about that.
He's always so frustrating. He is so unoriginal with his questions and the redundancy (even rehashed the retirement question, as if he didn't ask it enough times in their last interview ).

From her interview...
When you aren't on the same page with a book publisher? Does this have some hidden deep meaning?
I'm glad that she will get to devote some time to school for a few months again.

Aww I was hoping Nico Greetham would be in the cast again. He was one of my faves from So You Think You Can Dance.

Anyone else get their LOTF U.S. tickets yet? I got 4th row in Grand Prairie!

There might be some cast changes for the U.S. Tour.

I have to wait for my venue to offer tickets to season subscribers first - I hope there will be decent seats left, but I'm determined to go regardless!
