Hahaha
I remember getting a general message asking for skaters my age to try out for a new Cirque de Soliel project (since I'm in grad school and therefore not skating much at all, I decided against it). I thought it would be a guest spot or a one scene thing - Cirque recruits performers of many different specialties and smashes all of them into one show - but it seems the skaters will be the focus!

#CRYSTAL seamlessly combines circus arts and ice skating in the most exhilarating and one of a kind performance. Get a first look at today's rehearsal on our Instagram story. #CRYSTAL combine les arts du cirque et le patinage pour une performance unique!

Cirque du Soleil previews Crystal, its first-ever ice show: http://montrealgazette.com/entertai...leil-previews-crystal-its-first-ever-ice-show
Crystal is a dreamy, misunderstood young woman who goes out skating on a frozen pond one night and fall through the ice, entering an imaginary world beneath the surface where she encounters a reflection of herself.
The skating sequences are being overseen by four-time Canadian figure-skating champ and Olympic competitor Kurt Browning.
“I think the biggest challenge is knowing when and how to blend the two worlds,” said Browning. “They know Cirque and I’ve done many skating shows. This is the first time these two worlds have tried anything together. Someone asked me what I wished for the show and I said ‘longevity,’ because with longevity will come growth and these two worlds will start to really learn about each other and more will happen. We’re all potential.”

I have tickets for the Minneapolis show on November 11 - I actually didn't even realize it was going to be an on-ice show when someone suggested going, but I'm excited to hear it is and that Kurt and Ben were involved. The icenetwork article didn't mention Shawn Sawyer, so it sounds like maybe he didn't end up being involved, which is too bad.

I just read that Shawn and one of the other cast members were arrested for public intoxication in San Antonio. Hopefully this doesn't affect them being able to perform. :slinkaway

It's coming here in March and I plan to see it. I had received an email about it a few weeks ago, but I have not yet bought the tickets.

I am sorry. The email I received may have been about the performance in Las Vegas, not here. However, it is very easy to go to Vegas from here. I will need to double check the contents of that email.

My post #20 above lists show dates for March in Phoenix (Las Vegas is currently not listed as one of the tour cities).

Sadly, yes - cocaine too, though apparently only Cordero charged with possessing it. It is fine to have fun, but I agree with the poster above that this is not the kind of attention skating needs. Skaters who are given such an opportunity need to take it seriously, as professional adults, and set good examples. They are no longer children.
I truly hope this does not reflect too negatively on Cirque's bold move into ice shows at a time when professional figure skating in the US is already quite limited.
And, I don't mean to sound too harsh on these guys - BUT this is a HUGE opportunity for them - and they are 25 & 32 - old enough to know better and old enough to take on the responsibility of being ambassadors for figure skating. JMHO
